E65 - Are they serious??

Ridiculously small (and unchangeable) font size on the E65. Unreadable with anything but perfect eyesight....and this is supposed to be aimed at the "business" market?!! Presumably this includes 40+ businessmen (like myself). Someone at Nokia hasn't done their homework or a market test!

Also, constant delays between screen refreshes. Great features let down by poor useability.

In the end, returned it, got my money back and bought a Sony Ericsson W850 - magic!

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

Glad you felt the need to tell us all about, have fun with your kiddy phone.

There is a program available that increases the font size on smart phones but I can't remember what it's called or where to find it. Personally I think the font size is just right, with or without my glasses.

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

I agree. I previously used N6280 phone and found the font size very comfortable. Furthermore, there is a function that allows me to input the birthdates of people which also calculate their ages automatically. The E65 does not have these function or if there is, can someone help me in configuring my phone for bigger fonts and the birthdates function. Thanks

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

You can easily increase the font with a program called Font Magnifier. For more information check: http://www.e-series.org/archives/356

Hi,
No download starts direct, when you click the button in the bottom of this screen: http://shop.psiloc.com/en/Application,262290,Psiloc+Font+Magnifier

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

Well lucky old you, psychomania! Hope when you're a bit older you'll still be blessed with perfect vision. Unfortunately, those of us (and check the blogs, there are many) who are not as gifted as you, need something a bit more useable.

The reason I felt the need to tell you about is is because "THIS...IS...A...DISCUSSION....BOARD" That's what happens on this page! You'll get the hang of it.

And why should I have to search for a downloadable program just to read my screen when Nokia cant be bothered to include the facility?

And by the way....if the SE W850 is classed as a 'kiddy phone' then I'll have another lollipop please! Chuffed to bits with it and knocks the socks off the E65. Nuff said!

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

There is a free pc based program availalbe for editing the fonts and font sizes on a smartphone, I used it on my 6680 to make the fonts smaller.

Sadly I can't remember what it was called or if it's compatible with the new version of the OS.

Hey! I just find the new fonts of series 60 v3 perfect and elegant for me. However one who finds something that is not suitable for him/her, or just to increase the capability of a smartphone program, he/she should not have problem to buy/download a software to run it, get the most of the phone.

Smartphone means symbian means an OS means lots of capability to enhance software range means lots of fun to get the best out of the phone.:smileyhappy:
And it is just not practical to want all in one.
I heard some are very disgusted that they aint having any timed profile.
I just browse the web, found one such good application, ran it and got timed profile.
I find no reason to campaingning to have that software/utility built in.
Ridiculous.

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

Just little reminder to everyone to keep this thread constructive, and try and stay way from cheep jabs.

I will add that the Info given in this thread is very valid. The symbian OS is like any other OS. Microsoft will bundle some feature with it's OS, however if you want to do a fancy letter then you're going to have to leave the good old ward pad and move to something more substantial, like MS Office. This will apply to most OS's regardless of whether they are for a PC or Mobile device.

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

I bought my E65, 6 days ago and i agree the font size is too small, they need to give you the option of lge or small. Mine is turning itself off and also it has asked me for my pin code twice they tried to tell me it was because the sim card was a 2003 so needed new and now they say it will be right we'll see. another thing that is missing is the thing to hang a strap off. I do like the fact there is a memory card that will be very handy.

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

Hi goscrill,
Go back to page 1 of this board and click on the links from reply no.6 or 10. It will bring you to the website where you download onto your computer PC suite and transfer into your E65..... the rest just follow the instructions and its very simple and helpful with samples etc.
Hope you get your basic enlarge font.
Cheers

Re: E65 - Are they serious??

The new E51 has a default option to choose the font size. Maybe in a new SW version for the other E-series they can include this.
