Hi all,
I've just bought an E63 and am bit by bit working out the details. To set up my email I clicked on the "set up email" home screen application, downloaded Nokia Email, and succesfully set up both my Virgin and Google emails - no problem. However, every time I boot up the mobile I get the opening screen for email setup, asking if the application can access the internet. If I click yes, it tries to set up another email account, if I click no, it goes to my home screen and all is fine. I'm quite happy with the way Nokia Email is running, but the setup program apparently can't be turned off? If I just remove the program, will I still be able to set up email accounts if needed?
TIA for your help on this one,
Olaf

I'm afraid that only took care of the listing on the home screen. When I rebooted, I still ended up with "Allow application to use network to send or receive data?"
Thanks,
Olaf

Oke Okie
Goto your E-mailsettings and look for Automatic Delivery-> turn it off.

Automatic retrieval is off for both accounts. No difference, sorry...

According to that, right after startup, "home screen" and "email setup" are running. Once I click "no", "email setup" switches off, and I'm left with "home screen" and "log".
I still don't get why it keeps starting up on boot-up in the first place; it seems unlogical.
Thanks,
Olaf

The log doesn't appear to have anything relating to "e-mail setup" in it, just information about calls and data.

Hi
I am a new owner of an E63 and have the same problem of "Set Up Email" running at boot up. I also have two instances of this showing up on my home screen - one I can hide temporarily but the other is permanent. The way this came about was that I set my email OK and then ran the set up again to see what would happen. I feel that the "Set UP Email" shouldn't be on the home screen but come under Tools to stop silly people like me mucking about!
One my home screen one instance has a white icon and the other a blue one, the white one I can hide temporarily by highlighting it and hitting Delete. The other remains.
Did you solve the problem?

Jim,
I have managed to get rid of both instances of email setup you mentioned. Can't quite remember how, but I had to dig into the homescreen settings.
As for the problem itself, nope, it's still there. Since my mobile is on most of the time, it doesn't really bother me anymore. It's a little frustrating that you can't seem to get that program out of the "start-up" menu, for lack of a better term, but as long as you click "no" when the dialog box pops up, you're done, until you restart. I considered getting rid of the email setup program alltogether, but then I won't be able to reinstall it afaik, as I've got no backup CD or installer of the program.

Hi Olaf
By heck that was a quick reply! As you say once started up the problem doesn't really matter but it is still frustrating that it exists. I shall have a poke around in the homescreen settings to see what I can do and see if I too can get rid of those instances. If you remember how you did it would you post the method please? If not no worries!

i have exactly the same issue on my E71. here's what i posted elswehere.
"
Recently got a E71 - very pleased with it. Have installed nokia email and exchange mail - all working fine. I ended up with 2 "setup email" links on the main page. One i could select and hide, the other I cannot. When ever i boot the phone it trys to start the email setup wizard by default. I notice from installations I can remove the email setup - will this affect existing mail accounts and would this mean I can't set up any new accounts in the future?
surely there must be an easy way to remove the icon. I tried deselcting the wizard from the Modes -> home screen application page but it just comes back after a few minutes.
very annoying."

Ahhh, I will have a go at getting it to finish whatever its trying to do and see if that cures it!
Many thanks!

Been there, done that, no change!
I'll just accept telling the app that I will not let it connect to the internet each time I start up.
Perhaps it is a bug in the software.
Thanks to all for their interest, anyway.

Hi guys I have been reading this post cos I have he same problem and I think I have found the solution. I believe the phone was trying to install a new email account, but was left uncompleted so the program keeps trying to finish it off (as someone else posted earlier). I'm guessing all you guys did the same as me and cancelled the first time setup wizard without completing it.
What I did to resolve it was goto menu/ installations/ then highlight the red @ select option and choose remove. There was 2 red @ symbols and after I removed one of them both disappeared and I no longer got pestered with the setup email in bootup and on the homescreen.
