HI,
I've got 2 extremely frustrating bugs
(1)When using the search function from the standby screen, the search seems to continue even though you have selected one of the results already. Especially when using it to search the web, the browser gets EXTREMELY slow and the entire phone gets sluggish.
(2) When paired with a bluetooth headset, the call volume is very low. I can bearly hear the other party I am calling. This is very unhandy in the car.

I'm having a similar problem. My E55 won't go into 3/3.5g mode no matter what I do. I've upgraded my SIM card to a 4000 series and tried everything else with Rogers tech. support. They said it must be the phone.
Not matter what I do it will only run in 2G/EDGE mode. If I force it into UMTS then I get no connection at all.

Hello,
Have bought E55 two weeks ago.
Unfortunately, I am experiencing bugs or problems also.
Here are some:
1. It could happen that I am not heard during the converesation (I hope new firmware will fix this).
2. Text messages are not in PC Suite - only MMS.
3. E-mail client cannot login to default mailbox (gmail) and asks for password. Even if I write the pass, it does not connect.
It looks like phone producers forgot the original purpose of phone - Conversation.
When other functions are more or less ok (WWW, E-mail, messages, etc) - conversation quality is poor (mic does not work properly).
I think conversation should be the last issue, where there could be any faults.
Plus, in Ukraine, where I live it is rather complicated to have phone repaired at Nokia Service center (there is only one in the capital of Ukraine and there are always large queues there!). So I hope to find solutions here.
regards,
Serhiy

I have been using the E55 since mid-September. It is the E55-1 with software version 21.013. The problem I am experiencing is that my bluetooth connections to various headsets and my vehicle randomly disconnect. The audio switches back to the handset, but the phone still appears as if it were connected to my headset(s)/vehicle. Only after 30-60 seconds will the phone display a notification saying that the handset has been activated. On some occasions the phone has crashed and rebooted. Though I can sometimes make it through part of the day on a bluetooth headset, it's only a matter of time before it starts acting up.
I've tried deleting and repairing devices, switching the remote SIM mode on and off, turning the phone and/or the bluetooth headset on and off...nothing.

Can confirm that one - very unreliable. Once registered it seems there is an option available by setting wlan scanning to 'on', then disable the voipservice when it says 'enabled'. When it already says 'disabled' you are out of luck. enabling from this menu doesn't work in most cases unfortunately.
Beside that, which is even worse, in most cases I am not reachable either !
I really hope this is solved in the next firmware update !!!
BTW now have me 2nd E55 after 13 days, the first one suddenly died with no obvious reason. Screen turned black and apparently it turned itself off. No way to switch back on again (even the deadly keycombination did not work :-/ (confirmed at my local store)

Same problem with BT audio connection on E55 (021.013).
When phone is restarted and connected via Bluetooth to Jabra SP700, both phone calls and media player output will be played by Jabra OK, but after BT connection is broken (active disconnection or passive - f.e. out of car for >15') the Jabra unit will play only calls properly, but media player output will be nowhere - neither Jabra nor handset play it, although the handset screen will show player progress.
Seems quite obvious bluetooth/A2DP problem (lack of stability?). I don't know what protocol Nokia Media Player actually uses for bluetooth audio connection, and there seems to be no option to control it. Speakers like Jabra SP700 could use simple mono audio as well, but how to control which protocol MP uses?
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Have updated my E55 to 022.009 - do not see any changes yet.
My major problem was: people, I talk to, do not hear me sometimes (and when this happen, phone makes phisycal zzz in response to my talk). I have days, when I can not make at least one good quality call.
I went to phone repair point (Nokia affiliated place). They said that the reason could be that this phone is not released for Ukraine yet, therefore it could not work properly in Ukraine's networks.
They offered full diagnostics. So, I have bought the cheapest Nokia to use it instead of my E55, during diagnostics days. They said it should take several days.

Hi,
Just have this phone for a couple of days now, all updated, and there is one anoying thing.
I have an Outlook Calendar with periodic events (I'm a student and I like to have my timesheet with me, with the room numbers, etc...), the thing is, it synchronizes fine with the phone (via PC Suite), and I can read my timesheet but, when I looked closely I saw that all the events of one day were in fact "taking" the whole day (from the morning to the evening) even though I specifically set window hours for every event. And I set a morning event after an afternoon event, the afternoon event is displayed before the morning event on my Home screen.
Is that normal behavior? Because, it's really annoying.

Hi,
I am living in Denmark and have the same problems as described by SHrysyuk.
The biggest problem is during phone conversation where the listener suddently can´t hear me. This is really anoying and totally unacceptable for a phone like this.
My old cheap phone was much better at this and I tend to return to this, since basic phoning is obviously a must.

Anyone got pictures from the PCBs inside? I don´t dare to open the phone.

When in home screen, I type in a name for a contact and I shortlist the desired person to call. The e55 does a perfect job in matching the contact but fails to call the number have selected when I pick the non-default number. By pressing the call button I am redirected to the home screen and nothing happens.
To elaborate on that.
Eg. I type in Bob. the Phone will find Bob and prompts me to call him.
I press OK to select the number to be called (Bob has 1 Mobile num, 1 home num and 1 business num). I then select the 3rd chois (business) and press call. The phone redirects me to home page
I have hard resetted the phone (several times) to no avail. The irritating thing is that the bug does not occur all the time but when it happens I need to reboot the phone which is quite annoying.
Hi,
I have the exact same problem and it's very annoying. Have you ever found a solution to this?
Thanks

Hi!
I noticed some very annoying bugs on my E55.
First and worst is that the phone crashes when I use the radio. It just restarts randomly several times without any obvious reason. Then it works OK after 3-4 restarts.
The second that I've noticed is that it freezes when I dial very fast. Then the digits appear on the screen after 5-10 secs. I looked at other E55s and they don't have this issue.
Any ideas anybody how I can fix these problems?

totally agree - however my 3rd (!!) e55 is already at nokia care center which I had for 2 weeks. Even the technician was not able to switch it on anymore.
I think I'm giving up - never thought that this one would be such an anti-climax - really like nokia before but
will never in my life buy one again..

@walsumhof6
Maybe I'm lucky, but I haven't had any hardware related problems on my E55. So, I still think that's a very good product, with a very poor firmware implementation. With a better firmware, it will be a great smartphone. It has numbers. I hope that some of Nokia employee will read this discussion.
Bye
