I noticed that there isn't yet a thread in order to report E55 firmware bugs, so I started this ![]()
Here the firmware bugs I've found:
- Hidden WLAN: when you search for wireless access points (for example from the main screen) the phone see always one "hidden wlan", that is not there!
- Default phone numbers: when you have more phone numbers for a contact, you can choose one of these as default for messaging or dialing, but even if you do that, E55 keep asking you what number to use every time you make a sms
- Organizer major bug: sometimes (80% of times!) when you edit a memo in Organizer, or when you move it (by changing the start date), you will see that also the end date has changed (adding 1 or more days), even if you didn't touch it! And even if the start and the end date originally matched! So if you had a memo covering one day, now it covers more days, and the end date can't be changed again (you set the correct date, save, and none happens). This make the memos totally unusable!
- Organizer minor bug: when you open Organizer, and then open a memo, you have to select the information that you want to modify (text, date, synch) and click one more time to edit the memo. But: if you select the "date" or the "synch" row, instead of the "text" row, and then click "modify", the memo is open alway with the cursor on the "text" row. So, the capability of selecting others rows, is pretty useless.
I hope some Nokia guy will notice this thread so there informations can be useful for a future firmware release, also because I'm getting crazy with the memos issue!! ![]()

hi olandesevolante
about ur first and second issues u face they r not realy bugs, why?
for the first one: i faced that with my E51 in a place i visited before, that hidden WLAN maybe a conflict from another type of waves other than that of wlan using same frequency
and about the second issue: default phone numbers is a feature that only set for making calls but when u make an sms the phone will ask u to choose between numbers present unders the same contact name even if u set a default number, so it is not a bug but that is the normal firmware properties
for the rest of issues , they sound like real bugs
i hope i helped a little and i wish those bugs will be removed in the next firmware

Hi mykhashba,
I think that they all are firmware bugs.
About the first, I tested with my E51 and there are no Hidden WLANs, only E55 seems to be affected. The hidden wlan is always detected, in different places and cities: so can't be a conflict of similar waves, in my opinion.
About the second issue, I'm 100% sure that is possible to set a default phone number also for text messages. Indeed it works on my E51, but not works properly on E55, and I found that E52 has the same problem. I have exactly this issue:
/discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&
Thank you ![]()

I've a doubt now: probably the Hidden WLAN problem is not really a problem, but is deliberate. If I have a Hidden WLAN and I want to connect, in this way it's more easy. But if the main page says that there are "1 wlan found", when there isn't, users may be confused!

Hi everyone,
I've note that in my E55, the microphone doesn't work properly. After a few minutes of conversation, the interlocutor doesn't ear me. Is not a problem of operator coperture, but is widespread problem, that afflicts more terminals.
That is a bug!!!
Do you know this problem?
In the E52 there is a menu that allow to disabilitate the function of rumor suppression, but there isn't in E55.

Hi miclam,
I didn't have any problems with the rumor suppression, so I think it's not a firmware bug, but an hardware one. Have you contacted Nokia Support?

Many other people have this problem, so I think this is a firmware problem.
The Nokia support's answer is that they knows this problem and there is a team that develop new firmware, but they don't know the release's date.

hiya
ive been experiancing problems with it not going onto the 3/3.5g network when there is one available, only way to get it to recognise is to browse the web, makes video calls impossible when its in GPRS mode, as i first have to establish a data connection to 3G/HSDPA network
im on O2 and live practically next door to a cell, partners phone is able to pick all the differing data bearer types
thanks, ubermuffy

I have a problem which appears to be quitre serious.
When in home screen, I type in a name for a contact and I shortlist the desired person to call. The e55 does a perfect job in matching the contact but fails to call the number have selected when I pick the non-default number. By pressing the call button I am redirected to the home screen and nothing happens.
To elaborate on that.
Eg. I type in Bob. the Phone will find Bob and prompts me to call him.
I press OK to select the number to be called (Bob has 1 Mobile num, 1 home num and 1 business num). I then select the 3rd chois (business) and press call. The phone redirects me to home page
I have hard resetted the phone (several times) to no avail. The irritating thing is that the bug does not occur all the time but when it happens I need to reboot the phone which is quite annoying.

Loads of SIP issues:
When you edit the SIP settings > Registration, and choose "On in home network" (which I think is supposed to be only "Only in home network" it doesn't save the setting and reverts to "When needed".
When it's in "When needed mode" it won't only connect when needed, but it will automatically and relentlessly connect, and continuously reconnect to the Internet all the time to register the SIP service.
You can't modify the SIP service settings while there's a SIP registration active.
There is no way to unregister a SIP connection.
The only workaround to unregister a SIP connection so it won't reconnect is to put the phone in offline mode, power it off and on, stay in offline mode, and go quickly to the SIP settings before it's already registered.
I have the setting in Control Panel > Wireless LAN > Show WLAN availability=never, and it changes it to 'yes' without asking.

All the meeting notes in the organizer have default alarm set to 15 minutes before. This is not a bug, but coming from the E51 where the default is "no alarm", I think this is not the optimal configuration: every time I set a meeting, I have to disable the alarm, because I don't want 10-15 alarms ringing during the day!!

The Gallery is quite a mess: extremely slow, it has only horizontal mode, it mixes together videos, photos and others images that seems to be from browser cache (!), and it locks for about 1 minute when you try to send an image via bluetooth (!).

had the same issue until I found out the sip-profile could be deactivated on the home-screen at the wifi-line (scan/activate/deactivate). The sip profile can be deactivated, after that you will be able to edit the profile again.
It comes out now a little bit clearer that the 'destination' is merely a abstraction layer towards the sip application where
you can define your accesspoints. In my case I called the destination the same as the application and connected only
the wifi accesspoint to it since 3-3.5G doesn't work anyway because of lagtimes.
Still have one problem - people can call me on my voipnbr; immediate alert, normal speech connection. However, when
I try to initiate a call it does not seem to work. Firmware bug or bug in sipclient or an on purpose bug ?
What about the necessary afterinstall of the sip voice settings? Can someone confirm which version is needed for e55? Noticed someone saying v2 is for e-series, v3 for n-series?? Problem again with v2 is the profile settings not
being available either in 'net settings'
don't understand since it works perfectly on my old 95 !!
