Hi, just recieved my Nokia E52, and at first it was really really unstable, it was hanging and restarting a lot of times, when i used the GPS and sometimes when I would ride home from job, it would be turned off?
I've had problems to turn it on before, but at last it would work
But now it seems like it wont even turn on anymore, this is really a big let down for me
I've had Nokia my whole life, and wanted to try their Business series phones, and just one day after I recieved it, it already dies?
Or is there a way to recover it somehow?
Regards
Jacob

Sounds like its basically a Dead on Arrival (DOA)
I'd take it back to where you got it from and get it replaced if its a day old it shouldn't function like that.
I'm assuming that you have give then battery a full charge (around 2 hours or so)
Shunts...

It could be due to the firmware that your phone is unstable. You might want to do a hard reset because your phone is not stable. Backup your phone memory using Nokia PC Suite and proceed as given below.
- Turn off your phone
- Press and hold down these three keys: Green(call) button, * , 3
- Turn on the device without releasing the three buttons
- Release them when you see the Nokia logo or the language selection screen.
Once the phone boots normally, connect it to the PC and check for updates using the Nokia Software Updater. Aternatively, you can check for updates from your phone by typing *#0000# and selecting Check for updates.
Most probably the new firmware if it's available, will improve the performance. Otherwise, wait till they release a new firmware. Being a new launch, your phone will soon get a firmware update as is the practice by Nokia

Cool, will try that when I get home, I'm using the phone without the sim and memory card right now, and for some reason it seams much more stable... So I'm hoping that it will be fixed with an update...

Hey Jacobtc,
The exact scenario happened to me! very unrealiable, and then it didn't even started! I brought it back to the store, and for one week is in their service/warranty. That was a present for my girlfriend... and she managed to use it just 6 days..
I've told her to buy an iPhone just like mine... but she didn't listen.. now Nokia users suffers..
PS. And the N97? What a **bleep**..

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, tried running it without sim and memory card, but it still froze when I used the camera, and now again it won't turn on, this looks like nokia really didn't test this phone? ![]()
Seriously this should not be happening with their high-end business phones, business phones are all about reliability...

It is simply amazing how bad the E52 and E55 turn out to be manufactured. Mine is working pretty well (but with random restarts from time to time), but I know people that are stunned by having bought useless devices (from Nokia representatives proper). It is unconceivable that Nokia has released such a faulty phone. In my opinion there are two solutions:
- one is too release asap a firmware update that will solve most of the problems (some of them are many years old);
- if it turns that the problems are hardware all the devices sold so far must be replaced. It is the only way Nokia's name can be repaired.

I feel for you, man. the same thing happened to my e63 a couple of days ago.
here are my learnings, i hope it helps:
I did a soft reset (took the batt out for 1 min), hard reset (*#7370#), and reformat(power off, power on while holding down call key + * + 3), reformatted the memory card, tried without a memory card, replaced battery, replaced SIM.
It worked with the new battery for a few hours, but started displaying the same symptoms. I only installed apps downloaded from ovi or those that were bundled with the phone. After the reformat, I didn't install any apps at all.
The phone would go into screen saver (dimmed screen with nokia logo) then be unresponsive coming out of it. Sometimes it would turn off. Then 2 days ago, it didn't want to turn on any more, even while it was plugged to the charger.
I just got it last Friday. The bugs started Tuesday. It died Thursday night. I'm bringing it to Nokia Care later. I'll let you know how it goes.

I sent it in where I bought it, estimated time is 14 days!
Damn, and I just got this feeling that it really just is:
1. A software error
Or 2. A hardware design failure
But I hope I'm wrong on the second point though ![]()

These things happen. It sucks, but it happens to the best of us.
I talked to my Carrier for replacement details and they were hinting that it could take months until a new shipment arrives from Nokia.
Good luck.

Had my phone checked by Nokia Care.
They said it was a faulty LCD screen and replaced it. took them only two hours to hand my phone back to me. =)
So now it's working, I hope it keeps on working.

If you mean that I have to report back to nokia care, no I don't.
It's just not my nature to be too trusting of what other people say, specially if it's something beyond my expertise.
nokia said they fixed it and they have. I mean they did get the phone working again. but I'm just monitoring it for the old symptoms in case they got it working, but didn't really fix the problem.
so far so good.
