E52 dead after one week

Hello,

I bought my new nokia E52 one week ago (before I was using E50), unfortunately I must say that the E52 is really unstable and buggy. I've noticed a few unexpected reboots during web browsing via WiFi and even one hung after a call.

Of course all these times I could restart E52 after removing its battery and then it worked.

However, the real "killer" of this phone is the game "Block Cascade Fusion" and after few minutes of playing E52 always hangs. Yesterday I tried the game last time and now the phone cannot start.

So, I'm going to send it to the service however I have bad feelings about this new model.

Think it was dead at birth considering all the problems there appear to be with it.

Re: E52 dead after one week

before you send it out to the repair service try this. read carefully and try option 3 with the phone turned OFF see if this helps any

With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!

1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345

2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)

3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.

If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

If this post answers your question, you can help others by clicking the green  accepted solution' button. Thanks much ! You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me !

Re: E52 dead after one week

Thank you for response.

I already tried option 3 without memory and sim cards (also mentioned in other thread) but no reaction of phone.

I also connected it via USB cable to my laptop and noticed that some devices (Nokia USB Phone Parent + Nokia USB Generic) appeared after pushing power button but the screen was dark .

Thanks

Re: E52 dead after one week

hi All,

I wish I had read this thread before purchasing my e52. I have experienced the same issue and tried all the recommended workarounds as above.

The phone just doesn't work. What worse, the Authorised Nokia Service Centre has changed the Main board twice!!

And the phone is still not working correcly.

My observation is that after doing a hard reset, use the phone without the memory card and do not use any other functions apart from making phone calls, camera & smses, the phone should work.

Attempt any other functions and it will just hang. Fyi, I have tried switching the memory card from a third party model to a new one authorised by my local Nokia distributor here in Malaysia.

Same thing.

I just wonder why did Nokia make such a lousy phone?? I am switching to a different vendor after this. Will trade in for whatever value i can get.

Please test your phones better before releasing them to the market!!!

Hi again,

I just took back my E52 from service and the guy said that he had to re-install the phone sofware because there was a problem.

Of course now I'm not going to run any games or install other apps until next E52 firmware release - only the phone calls are permitted :smileywink:, like in old good Nokia 6310i.

Cheers,

-PG

Re: E52 dead after one week

This time before sending the phone to the Nokia Care point I've found this message:

/discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=47856#M47856

I've noticed that the battery in this Nokia model doesn't fit perfectly the phone case and it moves a little bit, so I tried to "improve" baterry connectors and fix it better to the case. After this procedure E52 woke up so I did [3,call,*] format and now it works.

However, I'm really not sure that this is the right solution of the problem ?

Re: E52 dead after one week

Please explain us how to "improve" the battery connector as u said. Coz i has some kind of issue, phone hang and cannot be turn on, even with hard reboot. And it's the 2nd time I've got with this lousy E52.. Sad..

Thank you.

Re: E52 dead after one week

Hi,

Sorry but it helped only one time and now I'm sure that it's not a solution of all problems that we have with E52.

I sent the phone to Nokia Care tree weeks ago and they are still fixing it.

For all that would like to buy E52 , just one advice - NOT NOW !!! it's too risky :smileyhappy:

Re: E52 dead after one week

I have firmware 031.012 and today it has restarted at leat 4 times. In one of the restarts it wouldn't start. Had to take the battery out even this did not help immediately - seemed completely bricked.

Luckily, it managed to boot I have reset to factory settings. Still, after that it had a reboot 3 times.

All of these 3 times were when browsing via WiFi ...

To be sincere, I am very disappointed. Nokia was a bit of an icon for me ...

Re: E52 dead after one week

Mine died after two weeks - June 2010.  Just when I thought I had a phone that did everything I needed.

But like the other problems listed, I had plenty of resets when using the cellular internet and wifi, probably 2 per day. 2 resets during calls and about 5 resets while it wasn't in use. C'mon nokia, figure it out.

I'm getting it sent back.

Re: E52 dead after one week

I also have exactly same issue yesterday, just after 1 month of getting new E52. Before this happened I was getting many times "Memory Full" Message. I had checked that Phone memory was just about 2 MB.

So when this happened yesterday night, my all attempts to revive phone were futile.

Then I removed Memory Card, Battery, SIM and kept phone like that overnight. In morning I just tried restart , and heyyyyyyyyyyy it worked.

Then I noticed that i was getting number of error messages, both softkeys were missing.

So I did Hard reset as mentioned in earlier post.

Now all seems fine till now. Is Nokia listening here? This is very serious issue as many users have faced same.

Re: E52 dead after one week

I was wrong with this as same issue happened again and now it wont just start at all.

Keeping battery out for night didnt help either.

I guess this is very serious issue and Nokia have to look at it. My phone was hardly 1 month old.

Almost sure that this is software issue which kind of kills phone. My friend has also E52 and he never had this problem (till now!)

No my phone is with Nokiacare, they said that they will update me soon.

Re: E52 dead after one week

Nokia Care replaced my phone with new set in 7 days, now its working fine.

I am sure issue is serious and I request all you guys to follow up with your local Nokia care, in fact you should show them this thread.
