I dont know why this phone has so many problems, the camera, the screen and to top it all now the battery.
This model is supposed to have a powerhouse inside but i dont know wats wrong.
I fully charge it and use a few features of the phone for a day and its dead in the morning.
My usage in a day was 30 mins Bluetooth, about 20 mins of calls, 30mins of watching videos, abt 20 mins of playing with the camera,an hour of music and about 20 txt messages. The next morning the phone is dead. No juice in battery.
No GPS, no WLAN, no browsing.
Does a 1500mAh battery have only this??
The battery life of this is the most advertised factor of this model.
Any help people?

the battery life is good this was your 1st initial charge, how long did you charge it for?
using the video and bluetooth are high consumption factors
in general you will need to charge the phone every day with high usage which i would consider your use as described
you would get two days if you where using the phone for just basic calls and text
If i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

additional note
it takes a few charges for battery to perform at best level
If i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

Sounds pretty good actually.
If you want to preserve battery life, don't use it so extensively mate ![]()

I've read on some sites that reviewed the phone sayin they used GPS and WiFi in addition to my usage and still the battery lost only a few bars.
The usage i described is a just typical day's usage. My N73(previous) and 6681(3yrs back) outperforms this and that too with only a 1100mAh and 900mAh battery respectively. Of course they dont have GPS and Wifi but i dint use them on my E52 also.
I think something must be wrong here. Can some user of E52 verify this for me please.

From gsmarena E52 comments by users.
Battery usage : Per Day activities include : approx 20 mins on calls, 15 mins internet, 30 mins listening music / fm radio, 1 hour file transfer via bluetooh, 30 mins working on organiser, 1 hour sending and receiving SMS. Wifi never used, 15 mins watching videos.
This user from gsmarena says he used for five days and battery has dropped only two bars. His activities PER DAY are as described.
I think this is the performance expected from a 1500mAh battery.

Not that it helps you but I find the battery life dissapoiting to say the least. I goes after one or two days. I accepted it in the beginning because the phone has so many problems it took me a LOOOOOT of time to get all to work. Now that it is finally the way I want it, I find that the battery life sucks quite a lot and I don't have myself to blaim. Trying to turn off everything that I believe drains the battery but, unfortunately, not much help there. And, to add insult in injury, my unit has the screen mounted at a small angle so it looks a bit weird.
Anyway, stay away from this phone unitl we see a few firmware upgrades. Perhaps there's a battery fix in there too. At least one can hope.
Otherwise, it is a good looking unit with just the right size and lots functions. If the phone didn't suck the battery dry I believe I could like this unit. It is my second Nokia phone. The last one made me not buy nokia for 8 years. It'll be interesting to see how well this one performs over time.

OK I did have an issue with the unit getting hot with minimal usage and draining the battery in 4-5 hours. My supplier replaced the E52 with a fresh one and the problem has gone away. Two days now and still full battery bars. So in my case at least, it seems clear the phone was faulty.
My only other gripe is that Nokia have done something to the bluetooth which causes it to randomly and erratically drop its connection to my Nokia 616 car kit (using the remote sim profile). This happened with the 5800 and N97 too, and I was prepared to accept blindly that this was a regrettable "feature" of S60 version 5 feature pack 2. But - the E52 is S60 version 3 feature pack 2. Nokia's party line is that the E52 is imcompatible with the 616 - but everything works apart from the occasional dropout. This is very frustrating as remote sim is the most intelligent handsfree mode I know - you get full automatic functionality without using the phone's radio to burn battery or suffer poor coverage because it's buried in your pocket below the vehicle waistline. I do hope Nokia's software guys had a compelling reason to change this, or the brand manager did. Nokia don't appear to have continued the remote sim handsfree product line, as none of their current car kits use it. Crazy.

Hi,
My E52 (appears) to have an Interesting Battery Issue;
I updated the Firmware (October Release) about 2 weeks ago. And most performance issues were fixed.
However, after 5 days, (now last week) had to use it for a rather unusual use - Cue for a Radio Outside Broadcast, so on line for about 5 to 7 hours. The first tiem, I did not have charger. And got about 5 hours out of it on a call ![]()
My spare battery was then used giving me a short time (it may have been low).
The following days, I used the E52 for the full 7 hours each day and used the Adapter to old nokia supplied for powering phone.
By thursday, although all shoudl be good, the battery was flat within an hour and now I have 2 problems:
1. When the battery had been full, using the phone is fine. All bars up. But after some use, especially a call or internet use, it may often drop to Empty. No bars dropping one by one. Straight from full to low.
There is a probelm. It seems to be on both batterys.
2. The "supplied" battery seems to have a dodgy connection and turn phone off - I can do by flexing gently and sometimes just using. The "spare" battery is faultless.
Anyone had similar.
It has lots of applicatons, but was fine until last week where it was running off power, on a VERY long call pretty much 5 days in a row. Could the Power IC or the Voltage reg or something have been damaged.

Hi All,
I also have problem with the battery life on my Nokia E52, at least when using MFE. My Nokia E52 is about 3 weeks old now, and when i fully charge it..... it only holds the battery for maybee 5h when MFE with push mail are activated.
I know for sure, that this phone should hold up much longer then this.... also it get so HOT!!!
My old phone Nokia E51 had a lot better battery time with MFE activated, could my phone be from a faulty batch of the Nokia E52?
Dosent seem to be any update for MFE/E-Mail on the E52 (I have 2.0.5), not any newer firmware either.
NOTE: I know that there is a newer MFE then 2.0.5 but it´s a diffrent mail client on the Nokia E52.
My Firmware: 22.009.273.01

Initially when I started using my new E52 few weeks back, I faced similar disappointment with battery life as posted by many. The issue got resolved when I found that the WLAN serach has been kept on, which keeps searching WLAN every 2 or 5 mins or so, causing severe battery drainage. For a dumbo like me, it took a few days to figure out this reason (and the solution), hence for the benefit of similar novices, I am indicating the path below:
Menu>Ctrl. Panel>Setting>Connection>WLAN>Show WLAN availability
- Set this option as 'NEVER'
Whenever you need to work on WLAN, you may manually put on WLAN connectivity from the respective application itself.

Tbh I were, in the start, a bit scared of the short battery life of this phone, but as others also points out, it will take a few charges to get the battery to its full level... After 2 months with my phone, the last weeks, ive had to charge it once, using it quite heavily, browsing 20 mins, music 20 mins, checking e-mail and replying, writing messages and phoning about 20 mins a day.
This is infact the phone ive had with the longest battery life.

Here are some battery quick-tips:
Battery conditioning: For new batteries, fully charge and then fully discharge them for about least three cycles. A charging cycle should not interrupted and while discharging it should not be charged until dead (not even USB connection).
Overcharging: although all new phones can identify when the battery is full, the charger MUST NOT be left connected to the phone. so overnight charging is a big NO.
Full top-ups: If you regularly charge your battery, you won't need as much time to fully charge it as a dead battery would need. But when you charge it don't interrupt until fully charged.
Regular conditioning: Of course the above points are impractical at times and the modern Li-Polymer batteries are designed to take a lot of abuse, but every once in a while a single conditioning cycle (as explained above) is useful. It helps to re-calibrate the battery indicator on the phone too!
I've been using these tips for several years and they're tried and tested on various types of batteries and phone models. they are best used for Li-ion and Li-Polymer batteries. don't try them on Ni-Cd, Ni-MH or other types of old-school rechargeable batteries, Hope this helps.
Regards.

Ok, I now know what is causing my battery problem, but not why.
When "Mail for Exchange" is active with push, it transfers data continusly even if no mail where sent.
If i change sync to interval (15 min), it works normally. I moved my exchange account from Exchange 2003 to a store on Exchange 2007 and the problem whent away! When i moved the account back to a store on Exchange 2003, it begins to transfers data again. I don´t know why and not what it´s transfering? It transfers about 1,5-2MB in 15min...
I have tried with another user account on my phone, and this problem does not happen then. So it looks like it´s a problem with my account somehow.

I also have problems with battery life. I have my e52 for a few weeks. At first I was surprised how long the battery lasted. But it started go get shorter after each charge. I've deleted fring, set wlan scan to off, I've deleted the mail account, I've set the factory settings, but every day it gets worst. I have an access to new nokia batteries for this model so I tried a new one, but without results. Now the battery only lasts for a day, with 5-10 mins of conversation, 15 mins of sudoku, no wlan usage, no mails... So it's definitely a flaw in my unit. I also forgot to mention that I upgraded the software to the latest available, without result.
It seems that nokia has published this model a little bit too soon, since so many units have problems with the battery, which should be among the strongest features for E52.

I have the same problem. Battery drains in 4-5 hours and the phone heats like a pan, irrespective of usage, actually even with no usage.

UPDATE:
I returned the phone for service and they said that they only upgraded the firmware (from 028, I think) to 031.012.000.01.
I picked up the phone from service last Tuesday, today is Monday and there the battery indicator has one bar left. So now the battery lasts at least 7 days, which is great.
The usage is not heavy, with approx. 10-15 mins talk time, 10-15 mins sudoku, about 5 mins wifi daily, and several times x 2-3 mins GPS during the whole period.
04-Aug-2010 11:47 AM
My usage in a day was 30 mins Bluetooth, about 20 mins of calls, 30mins of watching videos, abt 20 mins of playing with the camera,an hour of music and about 20 txt messages.
And yes it takes a few charges for battery to perform at best level
...but HOW you charge those FEW times...that's the main key
...
you have to let the phone to shut down it self...that means to COMPLETELY empting the battery...letting your phone shut down it self...then charge it for about 10-12 hours...
repeat this step(completely empting...10-12 charging)3 TIMES...and in THOSE 3 TIMES do NOT plug in usb cable...because it charges the battery...and if you want
long days of your battery that's the last thing you need...dont forget...3 TIMES.![]()
