Just want to share some info on Nokia Care and Nokia Customer Support. 

I had sent my E52 to Nokia care(NC) in Singapore for repair. After laying there for two months it was returned the same exact way without any changes. They havent even upgraded to new firmware while returning. Details of phone are

Software Version 021.013

Language set 14.02

Product code :0578077

Some issues on the E52 i faced was,(it is already detailed in other threads posted by me)

-Waves going on the screen. Visible when dark theme is used like the default golden theme.Ppl at the Nokia Care said they couldn't see it. Maybe they were blind as everyone else there could see it.

-The ' # ' button does not work to select multiple files or messages. The ppl at NC say there is no such feature on Nokia phones. This was a big surprise to me

-While backing up contacts to memory card,only a part of it gets copied. It simply says rest not copied and exits. I tried many different mem cards. NC says use PC Suite instead. What an answer...

-Magnetic compass in ovi maps worked before but now it does not work. This is proof they(NOKIA) worked on my phone.:manindifferent:

Many other issues I havent tested yet.

I just want to know if the new firmware version solves these issues. Can someone with these problems and have updated give some insight on this? It will help me a lot.

I especially want the ' # ' feature as it is a headache to mark each message individually for deletion. This feature is present in all other region handsets except on product code 0578077(I think its for APAC or Singapore alone).

I can confirm the # feature works fine, in the SMS inbox, UK Product Code, 022.009 software.

how od you use the magnetic compass? i didnt know there was one! hehe

I just had a play with the compass - seems to work no problem, cool. Apart from, and I really don't get this, when you are navigating - is that not when I would want it most? Weird.

The magnetic compass can be used with Ovi Maps 3.0. Just make that under tools the compass is turn on.

Some third party applications has support for the magnetic compass, like the latest beta version of Viewranger.

Compass is turned on under tools.Problem is it is always surrounded by red circle.

I get a gps fix quite fast but still the circle stays red. Before i sent my phone to nokia care it worked well. It used to turn yellow and then green soon. But now it never does that. Any suggestions??

Thank u for the info. The ' # ' feature works on all other product codes except the Singapore APAC version 0578077.

Sorry if I am going too basic - but have you followed the calibration instructions? moving in a figure of 8? if not check the manual it explains the process.

I have tried the calibration process. It does not help. When Ovi maps open, the compass is white and gps also does not get a fix. But when i select My position, Compass immediately turns red with a vibration.

I am completely out of ideas. Is there any other application through which i can check if the compass is working?
