E51 vibrating alert not working

I have an 'unbranded' Nokia E51 (product code 0557995), running firmware v300.34.56, and the vibrating alert is not working when the phone is in silent mode, even though it is set to 'on' in the settings.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the phone to vibrate when in silent mode?  Let me know if you need any further info my phone/settings...

Thanks!

Re: E51 vibrating alert not working

Does the vibrating work in other profiles like "pager" for example?

If so examine the settings of that profile closely and edit your silent profile.

Is the phone connected to a charger or data cable?  On most models the phone will not vibrate when connected to a charger.  On some models they don't vibrate when a data cable is connected.  This is a safety feature.

Re: E51 vibrating alert not working

Menu>tools>profiles>silent>

personalise

ringing tone :smileysurprised:ff

video call tone: off

say caller name: off

ringing type: silent

ringing volume: THE SMALLEST BAR

message alert tone: off

e-mail alert tone: off

vibrating alert: on

breathing light: off OR on

keypad tones: off

warning tone: off

alert for: all calls

profile name: Silent

If these settings don't work:

1. rename the profile

2. make sure you do not have a program like Advanced Call Manager or Black List blocking your calls.

3. make sure that you do not have any Enhancements like headphones associated with that profile. Make sure that headphones and headsets are set to run with Active Profile. ( I heard this from a friend)

I hope these help. :smileyhappy:

Re: E51 vibrating alert not working

Thanks for your replies.  All the settings in my silent profile are as per megirgin's post, and 'active profile' is set in all enhancements, and the phone isn't plugged into a charger or data cable.

I haven't tried it in pager mode yet, but I've switched it to that and now just someone to call me!

Re: E51 vibrating alert not working

have you tried giving your profile a different name? Try this. Rename the profile. Activate it. Then, Switch to General profile. Restart phone. After the phone starts, switch to your renamed silent profile.

For some reason, the phone might not be registering the changes and requiring a restart.

Re: E51 vibrating alert not working

I am REALLY glad that it worked. :smileyhappy:

Actually, it was a wild guess!  I had a similar problem with my laptop's power profile settings and tried something like this and it worked. So, I said, maybe your phone had a similar software related bug. Cool!

Btw: Thnx 4 the kudos. :smileyhappy:
