E51 and third parties Bluetooth GPS receivers.

Does Nokia E51 supports SPP ?
Most Bluetooth GPS receivers in the market use SPP profile to communicate with other Bluetooth devices.

On http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/E51 is wrote that’s E51support DUN.
I heard that E51 use a DUN profile to communicate with GPS LD-3W but on official LD-3W tech-info site is wrote that LD-3W use SPP.

The Dun profile is based on SPP, I’m not an expert but it is possible to support DUN and SPP not ?

Does Nokia E51 will works witch third parties Bluetooth GPS receivers on SPP BT profile ?

Best regards
Tomek

okinawa: your answer is out of topic. I do not ask about what other BT profiles is supported by E51 or do I should buy Nokia GPS receiver, because I know I do not want to.

Re: E51 and third parties Bluetooth GPS receivers.

I know what other BT profiles is supported by E51, i paste a link to site with
that information.

I know that LD-3W will work witch E51 too, I even write that LD-3W uses DUN to communicate witch E51.

My questions:

"The Dun profile is based on SPP, I’m not an expert but it is possible to support DUN and SPP not ?"

This is interesting, maybe E51 support SPP but not in full scale or something.

"Does Nokia E51 will works witch third parties Bluetooth GPS receivers on SPP BT profile ?"

Maybe somebody try it ?
"i don't now” or “use LD-3W" it's not an answer to my question.

Re: E51 and third parties Bluetooth GPS receivers.

I am using an E51 with a Holox 54X bought cheaply on Ebay.

It seems to work very well, no configuration was needed to get basic operation.

I have now also got AGPS working, using the Skytraq Symbian app running on the E51, downloading 7 days ephemeris data from the internet via wifi, then down to the Holox via bluetooth. This seems to make acquisition much faster.

It was a bit of a learning curve, as the Skytraq app is not signed, so I had to go through the hoops of getting a developer certificate and signing the app myself.

Re: E51 and third parties Bluetooth GPS receivers.

I've an Evermore BT-R900 GPS receiver (features), and my E51 (Garmin Mobile XT) cannot navigate accurate, the communication between the devices is very slow. I start with the car, but the navigational software of the telephone signals velocity and moving after only 5-10 seconds, and the instructions are late too. The GPS receiver can auto adjust baud rate between 4800-115200 bps, i think, my phone cannot communicate so fast with the receiver. Is there any solution for the problem? Thanks! Peter
