E-series - where next?

OK, I was on the verge of being a first time Nokia user.  The E52 was in my sights after the very, very good E51 and E71.

However, the avalanche of bugs in the latest E-series has been a huge step backwards.  I don't recall the E51 or E71 suffering this badly on early firmware?  Even the hardware of the E52 is being questioned in terms of its reliability.

I wanted a solid evolution of the E51 and it appears that's not happened.  The build quality has definitely suffered - is it a weight thing as it certainly can't be cost.  If the E63 had GPS, I'd get that.  A second-hand E71 could be mine soon, so that represents a compromise that I'll have to take.  The E55 is seemingly beset with similar bugs, so that one's out.

I recommend Nokia sort the E52 ASAP and bring out an E52i or something with a durable body and all the issues resolved.  Times are changing in the mobile phone market and Nokia are at a crossroads - I so want them to make a successsful next turn as I'm not an i-sheep and want a flexible OS.  Android looks promising but surely not for the business market yet.

Has the headphone interference been sorted on Nokia E-series by the way?  Is the E51 as affected as the E63?

Apologies if this post is a bit random - I've OD'd on chocolate and coffee...

Re: E-series - where next?

While some users here to seem to suffer from bugs on their E55, I have had nothing but good experience since I got it in October. Not a crash yet apart from once when I was using an old third party software (CCam). Once I uninstalled that I have yet to suffer a software crash. The battery life is brilliant too. I was in in the City yesterday with GPRS and GPS turn on the whole day and the battery only drop by 2 bars. Maybe I am just lucky and got a better batch or a new revision. :smileyhappy:

The built quality and material used is a downgrade compared to the E51, that I admit, and I certainly would not throw it around as I used to with the E51. It is still pretty good in comparison to most none E-series phones I have handled, including Nokia's own N-series and N97.

I have used E51, E66, E71, E75 and the E55 and am not sure what you mean by headphone interference.

Re: E-series - where next?

The headphone interface spoken about is the industry standard 3.5mm jack. Same as your 1980's Walkmans, and 1990's Discmans, and 2000's mp3 players, etc. I think - big I think - standard on the E75.

Re: E-series - where next?

The OP mentioned headphone interference, not interface.
