E90 Internet and mailproblems!

Hello

I have a E90 Communicator and am experiencing problems picking up my mails on the web-browser.

I have a Novell-based web-mail and whenever I try to log in to my mail, it starts up, then I get thrown out of the mailbox and get a reply "your login is not current, please try again". I have had several Nokias through out the years and I have never had this problem before.

There must be some sort of Internet setting or software update for the E90´s Internetbrowser that I can upgrade to.

I can add the the web-mail is a Java enhanced version, but as I understand it so has the E90.

I have tried with the IT-support at work (they can logging to my mail account just fine from any other Nokias web-browser), I have spoken to my opreator and have been sitting in queue on the phone for 3 hours without response trying to get hold of Internet support at Nokia, but it is impossible to get through, Please help me someone, that can make sense of this.

Best regards Mippis

E90 is history - maemo rules

I have also E90 and it's piece of **bleep** ! This is NOT A BUSINESS phone. This is just somehow working TOY (to age under 5y).

I'v got now my third E90 in 7 monts. This tells a lot about the quality. S60 platfor will be the last hit to kill this product. If there will be ever new generation of Communicator they must take Maemo in use as platform. Symbian is so out of this business. Too expensive to develop anything for it. Available aplications for it is so limited and I can't see any reason to try to support it. Maemo platform is so much much further developed than Symbian and much much easier to use so I'm sure that this was tha last Symbian Communicator seen ever. Symbian will be only for cheap phones for developing countries.

I totally disagree, I've seen & owned some toy phones before & the E90 is hardly one of those.
Just because you had a rotten experience with a faulty unit doesn't mean you should condemn the whole lot.

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

Is this a bad time to say that I have used every Communicator and think that the E90 is the best yet!

S60 is a good platform.
I stopped using fax years ago.
Hardly ever needed the scientific calculator (always used the spreadsheet anyway)
I appreciate from certain comments there are issues for certain countries, but on the whole....

Horses for courses!

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

Have to agree with last two posts I've had my E90 since last August and could not be without it now, yes there a few things it would be nice to have but if you reasearch a product before parting with any cash, as any sensible person would do you only have one person to blame for the phone not doing what you want it to!

Sorry But I really miss my fax and Here in the Philippines, 1 british pound is about 100Pesos so even a mid size car is worth over a million pesos. and you cant use the calculator for anyting over 8 digits. thats really lame for a supossd business phone. I really miss the Series 80 devices.BTW the spreadsheet is soo much more difficult to use over the previous version available in the S80

Hey Jafores,

Very long time. I hope you are well, and that biz is good for you. Sorry to see that things are still as they were since the last time we spoke. I have moved on since the E90. I now have an N82 an I like it quite a bit. It goes well with my iPhone.

Cheers.

All sorts thanks

Had to suffer a windows mobile device in the form of a samsung i780 for a while but now back with good old E90, lesson learnt!

You've been keeping a very low profile but obviously close eye on things.

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

I have had my E90 for 6 months, and it is definitely the best phone I have ever had. And to those people who bought one without reading any reviews, where the main differences/deficiencies (call them what you will) were clearly outlined, more fool you. Maybe S60 is not as fully-featured as S80, but given that the alternative to an S60 Communicator was no Communicator at all, I know which I prefer...

And for those who still believe the E90 is not a Communicator (and let's face it, it's not like this name has a clearly defined meaning anyway), go out and see if you can find a Win Mob device that's better; I think you will be disappointed.

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

:smileyhappy:

I have been here and there. I had subscribed to this thread a while back so when some activity hit, I got a email. Same thing though. Some like the E90, some don't. I did, still do, but as I made clear, I move from phone to phone about every 3 months or so, or sooner if I find something I like. I liked the N82, and even had an N81 before that. The E90 is still the best Communicator/PDA device on the market and don't even think about calling the iPhone a smartphone. It is not even close.

@bg22

I'm with you on the windows mobile comment, comes no where near as a very frustrating two weeks trying to convince myself otherwise proved. Nokia Maps? try getting an aplication like this on windows for free, in fact try getting any freeware/shareware for windows mobile thats any good. Clearly a PC platform trying to do a phone, very poorly!

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

Hello Everyone, yes its been a long time, and since I too got the email re activity i went back to check things out. Alass there are still split decisions on the E90. some love it and then there are those that dont. Hope everything is well with everyone. Sappo. nice to hear from you im still waiting for the 2nd coming, Also cant find a way to get all my data back to the 9300i and have been looking for a viable alternative. so im still on an E90/Iphone combo. Best regards to all

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

Jafores,

Great to see you again. The only thing I can think of is to put all your data into Outlook from the E90 and then sync it back to the 9300i. I will say this though, I am seeing more and more E90's here in Europe. I was in Germany, Italy, etc.... and saw quite a few biz people with them. I stopped one to ask if they missed the older 9300i and told that he did miss some things but the E90 sort of forced him to migrate into the "digital" age as the E90 is a higher tech phone, and with the avail software most of his needs were met. Sometimes he did miss the fax (I thought of you here :smileyhappy: ).

Anyway, try that with the Outlook and see if this works.

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

thanks for the tip sappo, that was my original plan actually i did do that, but as there are some mapping issues with outlook and symbian, when it happened i lost about 20% of the numbers in about 50% of my contacts. (i have about 50% of my contacts with more than one number entry). and some with multiple mobile etc. too much data loss when you do the sync. so for know I stuck it out with the e90 and am waiting for either a backward datamover tool or the next gen commi or equivalent. cheers jafores

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

Jesss... this kind of thread are still alive and people are still complaining about E90?

Well just for info the 3rd generation E90 is now arrive. Fixing all its HW failure from mic, keyboard etc. Now in addition it arrive with 2GB MicroSD and Leather Pouch. YAY!!

Not only its one of the best Communicator ever its now completed with many new feature developed locally for Nokia Indonesia. So anyone who complain should check and recheck.

Been using it for 1 year (1st generation and its still my best phone ever) Dont compare it with N Series because N Series is not Communicator by far.

Soooooo....

Re: E90 is history - maemo rules

I have seen a V2 here in Manila, new keyboard, I wonder what a V3 does. But from the limited typing I tried in the Nokia Store it seems that it is more difficult to type on the new flat keyboard. Also the problems I had were: no timed SMS, FAX, poor worksheet functionality, slowing down of phone functions etc when an sms is coming in etc and the inability to disconect from the network when the number I called is busy (approx 30secs.) before it disengages. Would appreciate any news if these items were correctred. tnx
