Hello all Nokia Users,
I have a strange problem. My E5 has the following setting for WLAN:
Ctr Panel>Settings>Connection>Wireless LAN>Show WLAN Availablity = Never
However, the entire time the background scanning is being done and "Select WLAN Network" popup comes with all the networks around me. I guess this is eating into the battery life and barely 10 hrs in the day, the battery dies out. I would like to add that I am a non phone person & hardly talk on the phone.
I am able to access the network service providers 3G network normally.
I want to shut this background scanning for good and use only the network of my service provider.
Appreciate your feedback.
Thanks.

You can try updating your mobile firmwire.

If you switch the standby screen to "Active" (Ctrl. panel, Themes, Standby) there should be a WLAN option - mine displays "WLAN scanning off" as WLAN scanning is, indeed, off; there is also an option to switch it off if it is currently on. Is this the case for you?
If the WLAN option is not displayed you can add it in Ctrl. panel, Modes, Home screen applications, Wireless LAN.
