Hey,

I've got tons of dust that just seemed to appear overnight under my e71 screen! I just paid 330£ for this at the Nokia Flagship Regent Street store in London, and I want it to keep looking good, but so far 1.) The red lining of the case has rubbed off on the rubber cover for the memory card slot and usb port, making it look red and dirty and used up, and 2.) there is a large amount of dust underneath the plastic between the lcd (under the screen)

Anyone know if Nokia can remove the dust for me and replace this rubber stopper, or am I just out of luck? any ideas?

I just want to let you know that I have the same problem and that I'm very interested in finding out whether there is a way to solve it. I've had my phone for one week and there is more dust under the glass than on the SE K800i that it replaced ...

Ugh, its really a shame. I paid 300£ for a phone that apparently is not as well built as I was lead to believe.

I think I'll call the nokia store where i bought it from and see what they can do...

i'm about to do that in an hour when they open. had my phone for 4 days and dust already in it.

Nokia have offered to swap me into a new phone because i'm within my 28 days return window.

you guys think I should go ahead with this? i mean... chances are the dust will come back... but i figured, hey, may as well get a new handset?

Get it swapped as yours is clearly defective.

Dust under the screen is quite a rare problem on newer models now.

If by chance the replacement develops dust in future you will be able to get it cleaned out and resealed at a nokia care point.

Ok, I will do that. You're right about getting it removed by the Nokia Care Point - However, I want to note for any readers that the London Oxford Street Nokia Care Point does not YET have the training to work on the E71 and it will have to be sent out... so sit tight for now if you have a dusty e71 (in London at least) and want it quickly cleaned. They will be trained soon.

Ok so.. I got my E71 replaced with a brand new one and one week later dust appeared in the same exact corner of the screen. Sigh.

Seems that pretty much every phone is going to have this dust problem, I'm just going to swallow it and move on. Maybe try to get it cleaned out in a few months.

I have the same issue and the dealer refused to take it back as it under a company scheme

I would call Nokia direct however don't have a receipt (company scheme) and am now outside the 28 days.

Upset as I fought really hard to get the E71 rather than another Blackberry.

SHAME ON NOKIA FOR THIS EXPENCIVE PHONE WITH THIS KIND OF PROBLEM.
As Well camera is a shame.

I've had mine for a few months now and all of a sudden a ton of dust has appeared under the screen. *sigh*

Is there a way to open up the device to self clean it?
