Contacts disappearing

I am using a Nokia E71.

Some of my contacts have disappeared from my phone.  They are not on the sim, phone or memory card; they have just disappeared.

I have not connected my phone to my computer recently, so it isn't Nokia Ovi Suite which has deleted them via sync.

I've taken the precaution of deleting Ovi Store from the installations on my phone, now I have Email from 3, Skype, Google and Windows Messenger.

Please could somebody tell me why my phone is doing this and how to prevent it?

Thanks

Re: Contacts disappearing

Are you syncing the contacts with a 3 server?

I have read somewhere on the forums about other people suffering similar issues on "3", but I think it might have been with E52 handsets..

Regards Jon.

There are 3 phonebooks on the E71. OVI contacts, phone contacts, SIM contacts. OVI store has nothing to do with this issue. It's just an app to install software.

Re: Contacts disappearing

My contacts are continuing to be deleted by the phone, at random.

There is no Ovi list on my phone, and there are no contacts in my Sim apart from numbers provided by 3.

I have no idea how to sync my contacts with the 3 server.

I have no idea why my phone is deleting my contacts.  I will take my phone to the 3 shop to ask somebody.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Contacts disappearing

I have the same problem, and am also using a Nokia E71. Have you found a solution?

Re: Contacts disappearing

@Sammyfb

No, and I haven't gotten round to taking the phone to a 3 store yet either.

I have noticed that all my contacts are currently stored in my Hotmail account though, telephone numbers and everything.

I have my emails pushed from my Windows Live/Hotmail account via a Windows Live install on my E71.

I think that my Nokia E71 is periodically shifting my contacts from my Nokia E71 phone contact list to my Hotmail list; but I haven't found any settings to stop it yet.

Re: Contacts disappearing

I just found this solution on a separate nokia discussion thread.

What they suggest is that we select the list of email accounts we have on the phone, then go into the settings for that email account and disable contacts.

I went in a couple of times, and tried the 3 mail (didn't have the option), the hotmail (didn't have the option), then the email account which had my name on it (don't know what it's supposed to be linked to); and the contacts option was there, so I disabled it.

I'm hoping that is all, now I just need to find a way to copy all contacts from my hotmail into my phone again.
