Calendar on Nokia E7

The new Nokia E7 was sold and marketed as the ultimate busines phone. So why is the calendar funktion (prety important in busines) worse than on Nokia  E 75? Specifically for instance:

- In the monthly wiev it is impossible to wiev appointments (or anything else for that mater) on any active day -> this was possible on the e75. Now the monthly wiev is useless since you dont see what kind of activity is marked on any given day.

- This goes also for the weekly view

- The background is only black? probably a battery issue but it does not seem to apply to other smartphones

Please! The is an age old saying:"if it´s not broken DO NOT FIX IT!!"

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

There will be a new Calendar view on the next major release of E7-00 software. You can see the appointments on the selected day on Month and Weekly views.

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

Hi!

I have also a problem with my calendar - if I get an appointment from an user who uses Outlook (I receive my emails via POP3) it is attached as "*.ics" and my E7 do not download or open it.

If I receive an appointment from a user who uses Exchange, I'm able to reply to it and save it to my calendar.

I've searched around in different discusions-boards but I didn't find a solution.

Does anybody knows what I have to do?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards

Marcus

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

I'm using Handy Calendar with Googasync and it gives me (almost) the calendar I need. Syncs with Google calendar and gives a good week view. The month view is good but doesn't have a icon or text option yet.

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

I have been using E71 for more than 2 years and it is the best smarthphones due to its simplicity to make phone calls and using the calenders and notepads.

For eg in phone mode  by simply pressing any alpha keypad, it will immediately look for contacts starting with that particular alphabet and you can use the DPad to scroll up abd downs to search the right contact. This is missing from E7.

For messaging, in E71, to add recipients, by pressing any alpha keypad or combination, it will immediately look for the contact that  comes with the combination of the alphabets. In E7, this only takes place after selecting the send option.

Camera quality on E7 is very poor and does not reflect the 8MP resolution it comes with.

Hope Nok Nok software designers  will look into these options.

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

Hi!

Good topic on calendar issues here. We've noticed allso a lack of a previously known feature in calendar..

Since 2007 that we have had M4E running  here, and the feature that makes a calendar appointment "public" or "private" has been in use. And now it has started to give us problems here, cause on C7, N8 and E7 that feature is not there any more.

This is really needed feature, because secretarys/co-workers can't know where people are, as they mark on their phone calendar any biz/nonbiz appointment it gets ALLWAYS the private label. Now what a private tag does, is that it just shows others that user is occupied, but it shows no title/info why. Yes, this is needed at times, deffinately, but most of the time Public is the type what we use.

E75, E90, E72, E71 etc these phones do have that feature up and running. It allso works still :smileywink:, so please get that functionality back.

Where do I find this feature on a E90. Here is an example:

- Open calendar.

- Push Options, choose "New entry" --> "Meeting"

- Subject, locatioen, start/end times etc.. fill as you like;

- the selection on most bottom of the list is "Syncronisation:" Which has three values to choose from "Public" , "Private" or "None".

that is what we really need to E7, C7 and other symbian^3 phones.

Is there any change that this gets delivered with "Anna" update? I'd certainly hope so. Waiting for longer than that is going to spell more trouble here..

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

Hello,

I have also some calendar questions.

1) How I can remove calendars? There are instructions to create new calendars, but I found no way to remove one. I tried to create private calendars, and ended up having two private calendars additional to the default one. I want to remove one of those private calendars.

2) How I do set synchronizaiton to Gmail calendar? My default (work) calendar is synchronized to work calendar via MfE, but I need to get my private calendar to synchronize to Gmail.

For 1), and not literally (I'm reverse translating from spanissh), from Calendar go to Options/Manage Calendars/Long press on the calendar/Delete

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

The Calendar on E7-00 is far below the expectations. I was using Nokia e72 for the past 1.5 yrs and was pretty satisfied, but with new E7, I can even the the invitees of a meeting invite nor able to select the users while creating a calendar meeting. Hope this should get fixed asap

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

Not impressed with the Nokia E7 calendar function. The discussion on the forum goes back several months now. No Handy Calendar available for E7 and no upgrade from Nokia in sight with a proper calendar. So are we going for a collective refund action towards Nokia on our E7? What is the official reply from Nokia now? They must have their hands full with MS, will they be extending the Symbian^3 platform when customers ask it?

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

I'm glad to see more people unpleasantly surprised by the calendar functionality of this 'business phone'. Truly unbelievable. I haven't seen the Anna update yet and don't know what's in there, but what I am missing most is a weekly overview (all days of the week with their appointments). I haven't seen it mentioned explicitly in this discussion. This view was my standard view on my SE P990i Symbian phone that I had until this year and had a significantly smaller screen. I now make due with the Coming Next app, which actually turns out to be very useful.

The other important thing missing is a date selector. To go to a date is cumbersome and when I select a date ("the first Saturday of next month"), I cannot see the day. I consider it a must.

Re: Calendar on Nokia E7

Since even Nokia people seem to be reading this, I'll mention another gripe of mine with the E7 calendar. In the "month" view, a long calendar entry of, say, 10 days, just shows up as many grey triangles for the days. I had an N900, where such an entry would look like a colored line through the day squares (in an extremely handy manner!!). Such, I could also use the calendar to mark when I have vacation, when I'll be travelling, and the like. Now the monthly view hides all information about what it is that I wanted to remember.

Weekly view shows colors, but it's really no substitute for long-term planning. Also, I never liked it at all.
