The access to the calendar in my 9300i is extremely slow, almost useless. Any idea on how to speed up it???

How much data have you got on the phone?

You could either try reducing the quantity of data you have if you have loads, or you could try backing up your phone, formatting it and then restoring the backup to see if that helps get it back to its usual self...

To format the communicator, remove and then replace the battery. Then when you see the word Nokia in blue on the inside screen, hold down the ctrl, shift and F keys simultaneously. After the word Nokia disappears and before the Nokia handshake logo appears, you should be given the option to completely format the device .

ALL DATA on the phone memory will be completely erased and the original settings restored so make sure you have any important data backed up.

If you didn't get the option to format the device before the Nokia handshake logo appears, repeat the same process again and hopefully you will receive the option before this logo appears.

I've seen this before. It's not because of the amount of data, it's because of badly indexed data within Calendar. And thus a 'bug' in Calendar itself, because it *shouldn't* grind to a halt like this.

The only cure that I know of (it worked for me) is to close the application from a task manager, delete the \system\apps\Calendar file and then recreate it by going back into Calendar, followed by re-syncing to Outlook and getting all your data back that way.

Good call Steve, that may well do the trick as well.

For the record though, the calendar file you would need to delete is in system/data/calendar.
Also, to end the calendar app to allow you to delete it, go into the calendar and simultaneously press Ctrl, Shift, Chr and K. The calendar should then disappear... delete the calendar file in the data folder and sync again as Steve suggested.

... if that doesn't work, then go for the full format.

Thank you as lot. Sorry to bothr: another question. How can I delete that file (i.e. how to find it and delete the Calendar file?). Sorry for being naive to Nokia ... Grazie.

I have been able to find the file (show system files ...), deleted it, resynchronized: same as before. Then, I did a re-format: again the same. Probably the problem is that previously I had a Treo and an I-mate: on both the calendar was extremely fast. On this (my first) Nokia is much much slower: I think now it may ba a matter of architecture of the software ... If only I knew it before !!!

The problem is Symbian OS 7 which used on 9300i is too slow, I wish they will use new Symbian OS 9.3 to speed up the new commy with S60 3rd API this will make the phone much faster than now.

I 'm joining to this discussion to confirm that on my 9300i working with calendar is terribly slow as well... If I just knew it before...
Regarding upgrading the version of Symbian - any possibility to do it? Please.
