Just upgrade mine to 023.002. Still testing for bugs, especially the bluetooth connection.
Skipping letters if fast typing is still there. It happens on the letter that has number above it, such as R(1). However, it does not skip for V(7) and U(#). If you press and hold Z then V, it will show Zv. but if you press and hold Z then B, it will show Zzzzz (since you hold the Z).
This bug cause my Handy Calculator doesn't work well because number 7 can't be shown on the screen.

Can't you guys be happy for a little while....instead looking for faults in the new firmware hours within its release? There's no need to be neurotic at all ![]()
I'm happy with it so far so good.
Give a little appreciation tell what has been fixed too.
I do have problem with the new 023.002 firmware: I'm still billed for my phone usage......lol.....![]()

Not as much looking for faults in the new firmware as looking for fixes to bugs in the old firmware, eh?

The Update is available for the most devises in the Arabian, Asian, African, Australia, New Zealand. It is not available at this time for the Region Europe, and NAM.

I'm in Southeast Asia region. And upon checking my phone yesterday (Feb 10, 2010 local time), it says "Phone Software - Important"
Phone software
Description:
Improves phone's performance and brings you the latest features.
Version number:
023.002
Update available:
To update your phone via PC, go to www.nokia.com/softwareupdate
Download update
I've just updated the phone's firmware via PC (using Ovi Suite, which incidentally also had a new version update). Our region wasn't offered the v22.007 that seems to be released to the European region last month, so this v23.002 is actually our first firmware update from the original 021.024 version.
======
From what I've noticed, these things have changed compared to the previous 021.024:
a) The "New Contact" shortcut key now works (previously, long pressing the "Contact" shortcut key will get you to the Contacts menu --> ie. no difference between short-press and long-press of Contact key. Now long-press will bring up the New Contact menu.
b) GPS Data -- formerly the "Satellite Status" menu item will only show up once the phone has gotten a GPS-lock. Now, the "Satellite Status" menu item shows up even when there's no GPS lock yet. (but it will just say "no satellite data available")
c) in Themes, there's a new theme added (previously there's the Golden and Black themes). Now added is the Purple personal and Purple business theme.
for what it's worth:
the Device Manager has these info --
Software version
023.002
Software version date
25-Jan-2010
Custom version
023.002.C00.01
Strangely, PhoNetInfo (a free Symbian utility) will show these additional info:
SW version
023.002 25-Jan-2010 RM-530
Language SW version
023.002.38.02
27-Jan-2010
RM-530

Umm maybe worth mentioning too but after I updated to Ovi 3.03 gps now works way faster than before I could even get a lock inside my house. . .

Another bug fixed is you can actually now save an image using the default web browser that couldn't be done on 021.025 version ![]()

Now I will write 1 bug here on this 23.002 fw, i have confirmed the issue posted on the other
thread.
The calculator decimal point will not work , if the phone is in Chinese (pinyin) input mode.
(though im not using the pinyin inputs, it is really a problem to the users using the
chinese pinyin, like my friends).
Nokia need to fix this on the next fw upgrade.
thanks.

hey guys
with this upgrade have you noticed that 'auto show' matching contacts when composing a new emai no longer works. With original firmware in the 'to' field soon as you started typing it would show matching email recipients, now it just offers to search the server which is not very good. Anyone else seeing this 'upgraded' feature

FINALLY !!! I got an update via Software Update on my phone *#0000# --> check for update, etc.
I bought the E72 about two weeks ago. Had nothing but problems with phone. Was trying to update via PC-Vista, but it keeps on showing me the error message. So i only got to install the 022.xxx version. :-((
Any way to transfer the update to a MicroSD card and install it that way?
12-Feb-2010 08:01 AM
Never mind, Vista FINALLY let Nokia Software Update through. But NOW the problem is that Software Updater cant find "the device" aka actual phone E72. I tried connecting it both via PC Suite and Mass Storage. NOTHING !
Any help appreciated guys.
I will try to enjoy the "new" 022.007 (022.007.244.202) ![]()

Okay, yeah I tested this and the letters that skip are the ones with numbers on top of it. Hmm this is really weird. I really hope Nokia fixes this in the next FW update :[ its quite annoying to fix it during texting. Like....really annoying
