Hi!
I tried to update nokia e71 phone to firmware 400.21.013 and it was unsuccessful.
The phone will not turn on.
Is there any way to fix this by myself using PC + software or do I have to hand it in to Nokia Care?
Thanks,
Martin

I've had this with a 5800XM. The phone had appeared dead during the update. I had to removed the battery and USB cable a couple of times to kick it off again, however, I did not close the NSU application.
It may be worth trying again, but I suspect if you have closed the application, you will have to visit a service centre.

Hi,
can you be more specific when you say it doesn't turn on.
Is there no sign of life or it starts and then stops.
I have bricked my ex e71 once and I have managed to flash it.
It's worth a try if you are interested.

after holding power button for ~5secs keyboard light comes on for ~20 seconds .. thats it.
I wish I had enough money to buy a linux phone .. Symbian sucks big time.
I dont know how much they'll charge for fixing the phone.

Did you hard reset the E71 yet?

I was able to fix my phone in a day after unsuccesful firmware upgrade. It is possible to fix your e71 software ... you need to use google to find out how it can be done.
I posted the solution and what to look for in google but it was deleted and I was warned by administrators. Sorry.

Which Administrators sanctioned you? If it was Nokia's then that is disgraceful!!!!!!!
The purpose of this forum is to resolve support issues, Nokia seem more and more unfit for purpose. No wonder they are losing market share.
My phone wasn't bricked, but I had a failed update over six months ago. The phone can still be used as a phone but I have no internet.
Nokia support's response was that if I wanted an internet connection I should use WiFi and that the problem was my service providers. However, the SIM works perfectly well in other phones.
Hard reboot etc. failed to resolve the issue.
Symptoms are:-
* Can't connect to internet
* Can't connect to WiFi (networks are identified when scanned for).
* Can't recognise settings files sent from service provider
* Can't update the firmware anymore (Nokia updater says that there is no valid SIM present, even though calls can still be made).
