I confirm, the problem exists for me too. I have fw version 100.34.20. OS Ubuntu Linux 8.04., connected via rfcomm and pppd. The BT connection freezes after ca 3 hours (last result 177 mins). BTS connection displayed on the phone is 3G/3,5G. After connection freeze, the BT icon on the phone remains bracketed (the phone thinks the connection is alive). The BT device I use is laptop builtin with USB ID 0a12:0001.
What helps:
- turning BT off and on (though sometimes phone hardly hangs)
- restarting the phone
- removing the battery (in case of hard hang)
This problem do not occur when the phone is connected via USB cable.
Because the test time is fairly long, Im now in a long course of testing some tricks, like querying BT services on the phone, l2ping-ing and so on.
The techs in Nokia support hotline suggested testing of the configuration supported by Nokia (specific version of Windows and BlueSoleil, because I have such a dongle available in Windows computer), and in case of malfunctioning, sending phone to repair (the Nokia support site said that I already have the latest fw version for my model).
Im now stuck, because the device Im using is borrowed for testing. I need a stable device for HSDPA and I don't know whether to buy E51 or some other device. The plus of E51 is that I know its faults, and I can hope the item I have is simply damaged. I don't know what are the faults of other types...
Of course, I'm scared of updating, maybe the thing my get worse
