Adobe Reader on E90

I have a problem with my E90: I open a PDF file on the outer (front) screen and it is shown correctly (I have set the default zoom at 100% in the settings). When I open the phone, the PDF file is shown on the inner screen only on the LEFT HALF. I have to close the PDF reader and than open the document again for the document to be shown correctly on the inner screen.

It is repetable with any PDF file. Is it a bug, or just my phone ? Can anybody else try this and let me know ? I do not have a second E90 to try it.

Re: Adobe Reader on E90

Its not only Adobe Reader rather some third party softwares also behaving same. I have been testing quite a few of trial softwares in other categories and can name some which strangely change to half screen once lid is closed and re opened.

Hope this is resolved soon on all levels.

Is that also because of OS ?

Re: Adobe Reader on E90

Definately Not. It is neither because of SW or HW, its the developers who market the SW in haste.

Re: Adobe Reader on E90

Nokia do not own/maintain the Adobe SW..
Like several other S60 .3 SW programs, the package on the E90 was developed before the E90 hits the streets..
That was before any S60.3 phones had a large display.
Some SW/applications companies anticipated the E90(Nokia did warn them all) that the E90 would be S60.3.

So some companies wrote their SW so that it would handle the transition from external small display to large internal display.
Some companies did not bother, (yet), so the result is that their applications do not stretch to fit the large display.
Or they require that you close/reopen the application to transit display sizes.
Nothing Nokia can do in the new FW that will correct the mistakes of 3rd party SW companies.

True. Though again, it is Nokia who is responsible from quality. And ported applications in E90.

So. If application has to be ported in haste all the way to end user, who's fault is that? When application is sold as 3rd party, that is clear case. When delivered with device, that is also clear case?

Yes. Draw function in abobe are rather complex and I think not using standard OS components. So best quess that proplem is in application.

But i'm clad anyway from everything included to device when baught :smileyhappy:

Re: Adobe Reader on E90

Adobe have not YET produced a reader package that is ideal for the E90.

Nokia had two choices when loading application into the E90...
1: Accept what Adobe had available.
2: No Adobe reader in E90.

The on board E90 Adobe reader also does not handle "big" pdf files well. Nothing Nokia can do to improve that..it is a feature of the scaled down Adobe reader.
Adobe want big bucks from Nokia to licence a better reader.
But you can buy one from Adobe.

Except get new release from 3rd party and include to FW. From applications included in E90.

From these I would chose 1 :smileywink: But again. It's not good for adobe if 'demo' is bad in E90. Who can say draw defect is not in purchased version. At least no E90 screen shots in site, probably not even tested with E90. Just informed 'Supported'..

Depending on the licence fees 3d party ask for.

And the €€€ you paid for it :smileywink:
Domdom

For my part, il sinle personal license cost 20$ ==> less than 15 € ! A massive licence buy would have cost far less...
Nokia could, for the big amount of money we gave for the E90, include a correct and valid version of Acrobat Reader !

This would have induce less frustration and avoid reactions like ours !

This not good for Nokia's brand !

But they will for sure correct all these little things and offer us THE E90 with the new hardware and software release :smileywink:

Re: Adobe Reader on E90

There is no pdf reader for S60 in the market fully compatible, so Nokia cannot pay more for something that does not exist.

Re: Adobe Reader on E90

This time I have to agree: it is Adobe's problem, not Nokia's. After all, it does write "Adobe" on the sofware.

Perfect. :smileywink:

it is the same for the flash player...should be Adobe to provide an acceptable player for its web content.

Let's see and hope.

You mean like the original one runs on PC?
I am shouting for that many times. Only N800 runs it, it has linux.
Why not symbian?

Yes, I hope the next Flashlite 3.0 will support better flash content, or Nokia will better act like Apple did: force its partner to discard flash content, YouTube already did it.
