Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

My suggestion is that DO NOT update Belle

You will lose - Skype, Lotus Traveller, Battery and connection information, contact shows only name in the contact list as well as wifi will not connect other than data package etc - these are few, there are lot more

the advantage is only - a different look, smoother swype, that's it

I am a scapegoat of the update with C7-00

I suggest don't go for update till all above problems are solved by nokia

You are luck by keep ANNA (the best firmware).

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

I updated to belle today and DID NOT face any of the problems stated in this or other posts in this forum. I like it for the looks and smoother operation. Still to explore- will update later about my experience.

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

Belle on Nokia C6-01

Pros: smoother use, more main screens (although I can not imagine me ever using 6 screens), widgets and shortcuts can now be moved individual.

Cons: bugged widgets (no resize, only 1 line calender and some more bugs), no more 3-in-1 view of time, date and status, more totally useless Micro$oft stuff, no more complete zoom of images.

Biggest con for me: lost applications I paid for. There was no warning what so ever that I would loose my payed application while updating to Belle (other then a general warning at the start of the update that some applications could be non-compatible). After update they were just gone.

All in all Belle for me has more cons then pros.

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

And now a few of my experiences with belle-
1.I really did not like the flat menu structure of belle. I had to spend much time creating folders and arranging apps as per my choice.
2.Phone has been working smoother than on Anna.
3.Most of my current apps work with the only exception of Uc browser.
4.6 homescreens are of no use since widgets are larger in size. I could use 3 mailboxes, calendar, social widget and favourites on one homescreen on Anna, while in belle only two mailboxes fill the full screen.
Rest of the observations later.

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

I have updated my C7 to Nokia Belle 2 days ago  and as for  the experience  I would say that the it was worth it, the swiping is smoother, the UI is fresher like you own a new phone, the qwerty keypad is better than of the Anna version. The only comment I could give for now is that the battery icon is too small and unlike the before when you can see the battery status in bar form.

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

Seems to work fine with Belle, but what annoys me the most that they changed the calender wignet, so now u only get 1 listed(the next in line), on anna u had more listed so u knew everything u had to do the next day. That was the most inportant change for me, and i sucked !!

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

Overall Belle is great... It still has some fine tuning to be done. First in the home screen, the battery icon is too small to notice how much power is left. Once you turn on the power saving mode, it becomes worse as the crescent moon symbol totally blocks the view of battery level. Background applications can no longer be accessed from options but you've to long press menu button. Battery level is no longer shown on touching the battery. No access to connectivity on touch. One can no longer make a folder within a folder in belle. When typing, the temporary capslock is no longer available. When in edit mode for menu or homescreen, the time lag available for deciding what to do is very small and before you can change, it exits from edit mode. Drag and drop option into folders is no longer available. These are some aspects which I liked in Anna than in belle. More when I play around with belle.

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

@blitzkid- Have you got the update for social? I have not yet received it. I know it is available on Nokia store. But when will it be available as an update?
And yes, I have received the Microsoft apps update on my software update client, I am refraining from installing this update as some members here have posted negative remarks about them.Have you updated? If yes, how is the experience with them?

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

Nope, no social update yet. Microsoft apps update, yes. But uninstalled it. Didn't find much use for it for me as of now. It only ate up my phone memory. :-)

Re: Pros and Cons of Symbian Belle

FEEDBACK ON BELLE EXPERIENCE-C7
after update the ui looks more sleek and refined(though the menu scrolling is bit choppy still!). Widgets something that i welcome and drop down notification list is also very good initiative.
The big block screensaver(though smaller now!) looks very classic and complementory to my black display and all black phone.lock screen is now more with the standard.
SUGGESTIONS:-
NOKIA here i am mentioning some usability barriers which if removed will certainly help to achieve more fluid user experience(you should interact with the ground reality and user feedback in more open manner).
1.now battery saver option is hidden inside menus(that is something that should be available at finger tip at any moment!! ),option could be provided in drop down.
2.inclusion of music control buttons in lock screen and drop down should be considered seriously.
3.it may be random incident but i noticed that after manually switching off the power saving mode the screensaver dont activate on its own. There might be a bug there.
Apart from these, one thing i really want to know is what is the use of microsoft lync for general user who dont need more than viewing pdf, docs, spreadsheets.
And some users are facing problems like incompatibility of video codec(.flv, mkv) should be sorted out soon!!.
Overall i like the update, somethings here and there are misplaced a bit, even they will be sorted out soon if you(people at nokia) will listen to us.
