I updated my C7-00 to the latest Symbian^3 Belle version yesterday. I haven't had much time to try it out but the first impression was that my phone was improved.
Now, I realized that my Original Nokia WH-205 Stereo Headset suddenly has stopped working i.e. they are not recognized by my C7-00 after the update. Why is this? I had no concerns before with the original Symbian^3 firmware or the Anna update either. Still, I can hear music with the standard headset that was included with my phone (Nokia Stereo Headset WH-102) and also with regular 3,5 mm earphones from a different manufacturer (Creative). I don't understand why the WH-205 don't work when the others seem to do and be recognized by the phone?
I'm 100% positive they are not broken as they worked perfectly fine just a couple of days ago when I could even make phone calls.
Should I roll back to Symbian Anna or is there some way of fixing this via a patch or manually?
Any help is much appreciated and thank you in advance.
Simon

EDIT: and headphones worked with anna before upgrading to belle

There definitely is an issue, my headset isn't working either (C7-00) after the Belle update. There is in this forums reports that some X7 has the same issue... Might be specific to certain variants.

@torchaj: Clearly there is an issue if it has been working just fine just days before the update?
Since my problem concerns the C7-00, your statement confirms that this is an issue specifically with the C7 model (and some others). As I said, I'm positive that my headset cannot be broken which should also indicate that the problem lies within the software and not the hardware compartment.
Are there differences in the Belle updates according to region? Those of you who said you also experience issues, where are you located? I'm in Sweden. Maybe we can track it down to something like regional variances?

I'm just about to head to long weekend run and as a last resport to the headphone issue tried to hook my old "analog" (without mic) Sony headphones to the Belle upgraded C7-00 and they work!. It would have been boring to run without a music, but now I'm happy, Sports Tracker and music work and life is again good ![]()
So if you have some old headphones laying around, it might be worth trying those, before Nokia gets a patch released.

All right ten days later, still no solution to the problem.
I've tried restarting my phone, and that doesn't work.
I've checked for software updates but nothing relevant has come up.
Finally, I tried plugging in my headset to a Nokia phone belonging to another family member today and I can verify that the headset is not broken.
Thus, I am still not sure why it is not recognized on my C7-00 anymore.
Is this really that difficult to sort out? It should be a question of just re-instating some of the S^3 and Anna code that made my phone recognize/support my heedset or something and I trust Nokia has people emplyed to solve tasks like these for costumers as they roll out the Belle update to more regions soon?
Very puzzling indeed.

I cannot confirm that it's a general bug - on my handset the headset (WH-701) is working fine with all functionalities.

As already stated above there is no problem mith my phone C7-00 and headset WH-701.
Please cross-check http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/accessories/
I would guess that most of the headsets - designed for 3.5 mm AV-jacks - are interchangeable.on actual NOKIA phones - especially when they are only designed to control calls (accept or end them).
One thing has obviously to be kept in mind: the NOKIA headsets (whith control elements) have to be pushed into the jack with a constant move and not too slow - otherwise they are only recognized as a simple headset without further control-functions. That also happens sometimes to me, when I'm too hesitant while pushing in the headset (WH-701) into the jack.

@vibhormda; I saw that list too after I started investigating this. Why then, did my headset work just fine with the original S^3 frimware and after the Anna update but not with Belle? Just doesn't make sense to me, I'm sorry.

kokomito; Oh my! I did try to insert the plug into the jack just now and it worked?! I don't know what might've been different from before. Strangely, I did it the opposite of what you recommended and plugged it in nice and slowly. I'm marking this as a solution as it fixed my problem with the WH-205 and I started the thread. Thanks a lot!
