Can this cable be used to charge the phone from the computer?

I don't have an E71x, but if it does not come with an USB AC charger, then you can't use the USB port for charging, either.

On phone models where also the AC charger has an USB connector, you can also charge (except slower) using an USB cable.

Alternatively you can use a CA-126 cable. On one end it has a standard USB type-A connector. On the other end it has both the microUSB connector to plug into the E71's data port and the 2mm charging plug.

I know you're trying to be helpful, but the question wasn't answered.  The question is "Can the E71x battery be charged using the USB cable that came with the phone?".  The USB cable that comes with the phone is a CA-101.  The Nokia description of this phone says it is a data AND charging cable.  I don't want to seek alternate solutions until I need one.  The user's guide for the phone doesn't say anything one way or the other.   Thanks.

Correction: Nokia's description of the CA-101 USB "cable" says it is both data and charging.  I mistakenly said "phone" instead of "cable.  The phone userguide doesn't say anything about USB charging.

The CA-101 can only be used to charge a phone if that phone is compatible with USB charging. Such phones ship with chargers that have a microUSB connector on them instead of the classic 2mm plug.

Therefore, if your E71x ships with a charger that has a µUSB connector on it then you can also use the CA-101 to charge the phone from its USB connection.

If your E71x ships with a charger that has the usual 2mm plug on it then you cannot use the CA-101 to charge the phone. In in this case, in order to charge the phone from a USB port you need either the CA-100 adapter (in which case you need one USB port for the CA-100, and one for the CA-101 if you also want the data connection), or a CA-126 cable combining both the CA-100 and the CA-101 into a single cable requiring a single USB port for both charging and data.

I have an E71x and it came with the USB cable.  It also came with a regular charger.

When I plug in the regualr charger the battery indicator on the disply shows it is charging.

Plugging in the USB  cable does not show it to be charging, so I would have to say 'No' it will not charge the battery.

Dear all:

I know that I can use the CA-126 cable to charge the E71. Can any one tell me where is the location of the 2mm charge connector? Because I don't have the E71 phone on hand . From the user manual, I also can't find any information about the 2mm charge connector.
