USB Connection problem with Nokia C5

hello,

I have read all the topics regarding the error 'Your Phone is in file transfer mode and cannot be used with PC Suite" but havn't foudn a solution.

I am unable to connect the phone to the computer correctly and i have followed all the instructions.

The computer is a HP running Windows 7

The settings on the phone are set for PC Suite etc. It does see a phone but as a  S60 Handset. It says its "connected in non-compatible mode" Again the USB mode is in PC Suite

Many thanks

Re: USB Connection problem with Nokia C5

Try this: Remove the memory card - do it safely (Power/Remove Memory Card...). Plug it back. Connect the USB cable in Data transfer (Menu/Connectivity..).

If that doesn't work: Turn off phone, remove battery, remove memory card. Insert battery, power on, insert memory card, connect USB cable.

Remember, you need to change messaging storage back to phone memory (Messaging/Options/Setttings/Other...) Also apps running of memory card must be turned off. Try selecting a default theme -- as opposed to one stored on the memory card. Hope that helps, typing from another S60v3 handset that had the same probem, but is connected now.

Re: USB Connection problem with Nokia C5

Hi,

I'm brandnew in this forum. Why?? Because I have the same troubles with my C5 and PC-Suite.

I'm using WinXP/32/SP2 and have installed pc_suite (pcs), no more configurations made on the C5.

Steps: start pcs , switched my C5 on, connect the USB cable to C5 and then to my pc.

and then the errormessage as described above occurs.

But I didn't find any notes in the manual (german) about 'disable the datatransfer mode'.

I  want to synchronize all my contacts and I am not so happy about the situations now.

Thanks for help.

Thanks
Ruedi
