Troubles with the installation of the updated Nokia Software Updater software

Since yesterday I cannot use the Nokia Software Updater functionality because - when I start it - it carries me to the download of the latest version of this program. Problem is that - after the download iis finished - it is impossible to install it because I get the follwoing messages :

 

1)

Nokia Software Updater

 

! Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required fir this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action kill_process script error -2147217388, : Line 5, Column 1,

 

2)

! Installation operation failed.

Fatal error during installation.

 

I tried to Uninstall Nokia Software Updater from my computer to try a brand new installment of it, BUT I could not Uninstall the program and got the same following computer message :

 

Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for the install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action kill_process script error -2147217388, : Line5, Column 1,

 

How can I solve the problem ???

the very best solution:

This is easy to get around. The error is only in Nokia's combined installer, not the NSU installer itself.

1. Download and install 7-Zip. Don't worry it's free!
(No, neither WinRAR nor WinZip will do for this)

Get it here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

2. Use 7-Zip to extract the contents of NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en.exe into a folder. You should now have a bunch of folders and a few files.

3. Go into Packages, then NokiaSoftwareUpdater, then Setup

4. Launch NokiaSoftwareUpdater.msi (double-click it).

5. That's it!
