After I installed Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_6_86_11_0, and connected phone to computer using USB, computer shows 'Founf new hardware E51' starts install drivers, then shows 'Found new hardware Nokia E51 USB Phone Parent' stays with this message for long time and after crashes.
Then in the device manager shows new device -Wireless communication devices - Nokia E51, Properties for it - Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18).
When I am reinstalling driver for device it founds the drivers, installs them and then crushes and shows 'There was a problem installing this hardware: Nokia E51 USB phone Parent, An error occurred during the installation of the device, Fatal error during installation'
I have tried to uninstall everything from nokia, clear the registries, and install only Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver rel 6.86.11.0, but all time the same problem.
Vhen installing older version, there is no problems to connect, and using Bluetooth phone connects perfectly.

Some questions:
What is your windows?
Is it 64 bit version?
Was a previous PC Suite version 6.85?

Anyway, I think that problem is in register (maybe there are something left from previous USB driver). I would like to check your windows register (maybe I can find reason from there). So, could you do this:
1. Click Start menu > Run > give command: regedit and then OK
2. select key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
3. click File > Export and save that file in your disk.
4. save file to http://www.savefile.com and send link to me.

My E51 is working with Win XP Pro SP232 bit with Pc Suite
6.86.90 .

I think problem is with Nokia PC suite registry. If you can do the registry edit, it will be OK.
Otherwise Reinstall PC suite may solve the problem.

I would like to know of a solution asap too please. This problem just happened to me after I installed the nokia software updater. I think that it comes with a conflicting driver and now I cant connect my e51 to the PC via cable anymore!!!!!!!!!

Can nokia please fix this!?

I connected today to do my usual sync and was told to update the PC suite. Being an obedient and trusting sort I did as I as told and now no connection! I have tried to revert to the old settings - which worked fine - but the Nokia software knows better and won't let me, even after completely uninstalling and starting from scratch. Any news on fixing this Nokia? I switched to the E51 as it is billed as a business phone. I don't have time for this hassle - I just want something that works reliably!

Please inform your Firmwire versions of your Nokia E51 if it is other than 100.34.20. mention the product code also.
My PC Suite (6.86.90) is working well with my E51 and Iam doing the backup and Pc sync weekly basis.

After updating the PC suite restart PC and connect through usb cable using pc suite mode.

Firmware is 100.34.20 and everything worked fine on previous version of PC Suite. Since v6.86.9.0 installed PC Suite cannot find the phone and Device Manager says there is a problem with the driver. It looks like some sort of conflict with the cable driver that is preventing the connection working properly. This is with XP pro not Vista btw.

I have exactly the same problem.
1. I had a perfectly working setup (details below).
2. I manually clicked on update phone software in PC Suite.
3. Downloaded and ran the new Update phone software program.
4. At the end of the install, my E51 was not recognized by the update phone software program.
5. It stopped working with PC suite since then.
6. I have uninstalled PC Suite, uninstalled Update phone software program, rebooted the machine, deleted C:\program files\Nokia and installed PC suite again.
7. Still the same problem.

I suspect the Update phone software program messed something up. Any bug fixes Nokia?

I have exactly the same problem!!

I was told by the Nokia Care service line in Norway, to deactivate the "Nokia E51 USB Phone Parent", and so I did, but when I reconnect the phone to the PC it reappears immediately.

I synchronize my E51 both at home and at the office. At home I upgraded the Nokia PC suite (as I was told to do) so that I now have the 6.86.9.0 version, but now the PC will not recognize my phone. In the office I did not upgrade PC suite, and there the synchronisation works perfectly still.

Please fix this fast, Nokia!! This phone is useless if it's not connectible to the computer.

Hi Friends,
Please try in this method.
After Installing the new PC suite Software.
Restart the computer and Connect your phone with USB cable.
Open Nokia PC suite. Go to help and you can see on
third line "Reinstall PC suite support on your Phone". Click there and restart PC suite.
It worked for me and now iam doing PC sync daily.

I seem to be suffering the same problem. Everything was working fine weeks ago, but I haven't connected my phone until today, when I received the error message about the Nokia E51 USB Phone Parent problem. It says it had a "Fatal error during installation", which is odd, since I haven't touched the program since day 1. I was running PC Suite version 6.86.9.0, so I checked the Nokia site and updated the PC Suite to 6.68.9.3, but this didn't help solve the problem. I tried reinstalling PC Suite, the Connectivity Cable Driver and the Nokia Software Update, although I never used the last two before. My firmware is the same as on release.

I'm running a Windows XP Pro SP2 32bit, PC Suite 6.68.9.3, and a working solution would be really nice. Especially from Nokia.

The compatible cable for Nokia E51 is DKE -2.

the latest driver for connectivity cable is below(click on link) and please read the Installation guide (click on link) for how to remove the old cable drivers from your PC.

I'm sorry but that is actually misleading. Yuor link says the following:

Important for Windows 2000 or XP or Vista users: Drivers for the Nokia DKE-2, DKU-2, CA-42, CA-53, CA-70, and CA-101 cables are now integrated into PC Suite. Instead of downloading the cable driver separately, we recommend you download PC Suite.

Which tells us to install PC suite instead of downloading the driver. It is PC suite that is giving us the issue = we are back to square one.

If you have a problem with Cable, you can install the cable driver after installing PC suite.

I have done so and worked my E51.

If this not work, we will wait for an expert reply.

I followed afthar's advice, and removed the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver on my computer. Then I downloaded a new version from the Nokia website and installed this instead. Then, after restarting my computer, I connected my mobile to the PC - BUT then the exactly same ting happened once more (the computer don't recognize the mobile) and I still can't synchronize my mobile and my computer!!

Now, please, may some of the smart guys and girls in Nokia fix this!! This is a disgrace!!
