Hi have tried using an accesss point sent to me by t-mobile to connect to the Internet but to no avail. I keep getting "Packet Data not available. Please check network services" The settings for the access point are:
Connection name: T-mobile Inter.
Data bearer: Packet data
Access Point name: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: t-mobile
Prompt password: no
Homepage: http://www.t-mobile.favourites.co.uk/
Use access point: After confirmation
Advanced settings:
Network type: IPv4
Phone IP address: Automatic
DNS addresses: User defined 149.254.192.126
Proxy server address: None
Proxy Port number: 0
Any ideas ?

Although settings sent from T-Mobile via SMS have you checked with them that service is enabled for you?

Yes they say that the phone is connected but they wanted to go through a diagnostic process where I started by removing all other connectivity settings like WLAN. I didn't want to do this as personally I don't think its relevant.

Just a thought, if you go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Internet - is T-Mobile Internet = Priority 1? To change priorities highlight access point > Organise > Change Priority
If it is in different destination category such as "Uncategorised" then move it to "Internet"

Yes it has priority 1 in Internet destinations.
