N96 Cable connection issue.

Hi,

Today I've plugged my phone into my PC and the device is no longer working properly with my computer. When I plug in the device I get a Driver Software Installation screen popup with something installing, which after about 2 minutes fails to install anything.

 

Last night I attempted to do a firmware update within the Nokia Ovi Suite but that also failed to update after several attempts. Since then I've not plugged my device into my PC until today.

I'm thinking maybe something changed on my device/PC and now isn't working properly. It shows up in device manager with a yellow icon stuck to it. I've tried right clicking and choosing Update Driver Software but it just tells me it's all up to date.

 


Any assistance on this would be great.

Try making a directory in mass storage and called "Music" worked for me.

Does this happen with all modes: data transfer, PC suite etc?

 

did you try restoring you factory settings?

 

I suspect the computer here because data transfer mode doesn't need Nokia drivers so if other flash disks work it should also work

Mass storage mode works fine. PC Suite mode doesn't.

Try uninstalling PC suite, running PC suite cleaner then reinstall PC suite or OVI suite and see how it performs or try your luck with just the cable drivers:smileywink:
