N8 Belle cannot connect to WPA2 protected wifi

Hi,

I am facing the subject problem. I am able to connect easily to unprotected WLANs but not WPA2 protected wifi.

I have checked this on 2 N8s in my home.

I'm not experiencing such a problem wpa wifi's. Perhaps you could try removing the access point and set it up again from scratch

Re: N8 Belle cannot connect to WPA2 protected wifi

Hello,
I had no problem setting up my WPA2 protected wifi connection for my N8 after upgrading it to Belle.

Does the N8 provide a field to enter the password?
Does an error message appear?

Re: N8 Belle cannot connect to WPA2 protected wifi

you will connect your Wi-Fi with only open network which is not secure with WAP password. if you want access WAP or secure network you need password.

Hello everybody,

I google-found this thread/topic after failing to connect to access point (AP) recognized as WPA2-Personal by inSSIDer, which corresponds to the internal setting WPA (AES/CCMP) of the AP. The error stated something about the password being wrong.

I can connect with no problems when AP shows as WPA-Personal on inSSIDer, which corresponds to WPA (TKIP+AES) or  WPA (TKIP) setting of th AP (if my understanding is right I find the TKIP+AES option of my AP stupid, but it is not the point discussed here).

In all 3 cases, the key is randomly generated by the AP (63 ASCII), and I use http://jorisvr.nl/wpapsk.html to convert to 64 hexadecimal since all ASCII can not be entered from the N8 virtual keyboards and symbol lists (again, this procedure works in the latter two cases).

I am forced to migrating to WPA2 usage because I have moved in a big city in a town building and the likelyhood of an ill-intendtioned & capable person in my WIFI radius is greatly increased.

It is worth noting that 3 other terminals in my possesion are unable to connect when the AP is set to  WPA2-Personal - WPA (AES/CCMP). However, they all predate the N8 (with some as far back as 2004, and I am not certain the hardware is WPA2-Personal - WPA (AES/CCMP) compatible. The N8 is the most recent WIFI terminal I own, so it MUST do WPA2 :-D

Regards,
