Failing to load 6288/N73 usb modem

I have a Nokia 6288 & N73 which I can use as a USB modem on most PCs with Windows XP.

I have failed to load both handsets as USB modems to the PC below:

A P4 with a Titan motherboard, model GA-8ITXE running WindowsXP Service pack 3.

The USB cable drivers do load and connection to the Nokia PC suite is established allowing other functions between the handset and PC suite. I am running latest handset & PC suite versions.

It fails to load both handsets (and others) as USB modems, coming up with 'Failed to load 6288/N73 usb modem', 'missing INI command' (not exact failure wording). The OS system and motherboard & chipset drivers have been laoded/reloaded several times. Please assist. Is this PC compatible with Nokia (or other) cellphone USB modem?

Re: Failing to load 6288/N73 usb modem

Just replying to my own post for the benefit of all. The problem was resolved by loading the previous older version USB cable driver. The USB cable driver on PC Suite ver 7 needs to be uninstalled and replaced with older cable driver 6.85.10.0

You do not find this old driver on the Nokia website as the new driver is supposed to be fully backward compatible (but not so - Nokia's oversight?). This appears to be the major problem with connectivity for Nokia owners who have upgraded their PC suite.
