E71 Bluetooth Problem

Got a Jawbone Prime last week.

Tried to pair it with my E71 and succeed. After a while, it was disconnected. Then re-connect again... disconnected... connected and so forth.

However, it works fine with my 6500c though.

Please kindly help on this.

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

Hi comicchan

Presumably you have already tried resetting your Jawbone?

Press and hold down the Talk Button on the Jawbone headset Connect Jawbone to the USB charger cable. (The cable needs to be plugged into an active USB port or to an electrical outlet via the Wall Charger unit.) Release the Talk Button. Disconnect the new Jawbone headset from the USB charger cable.

Happy to have helped the forum in a small way from 2007-10

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

Hi scoobyman

Yeap. Already tried to soft reset the Jawbone. It works in the initial connection with E71. After either one is off and tries to reconnect again, they fails.

Also tried to soft reset E71, and hard reset it (reinstall the fireware), the problem still exists.

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

I'm having the same problem with E71x and my BMW integrated bluetooth.  Paired up fine, good integration with addressbook but it disconnects and reconnects all the time.  Very frustrating most likey will need to return my E71.

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

I just went to Nokia shop today. They paired it with Nokia brand BT headsets and it was fine. Based on it, they determinated it the phone got nothing wrong with its BT device.

Looks like we need to wait for next firmware upgrade with the fix... Gosh!

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

Big disappointment here too. I love the E71 and was excited when my Jawbone Prime arrived just to find out that it is not usable on the E71. It disconnects every time a call is being picked up.

I tried the Jawbone Prime on a E65 and this combo works just fine. Please, Nokia give us a firmware fix for this so we can use the E71 with a Jawbone Prime.

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

according to Nokia, the problem is the profile of the BT

There is a BT 1.0, BT 2.0 and in the mean time a BT 3.0.

The E71 is working according BT 2.0. Still have to check my car tough.

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

Hopefully Nokia pulled the v300 firmware from NSU becuase they are aware fo this problem and realize they will lose customers and get phones returned if left unfixed. Its ridiculous not have have stable bluetooth when people's CARS require it, let alone pricy units like the Jawbone Prime. While I may reluctantly return a jawbone I will not change CARS to be loyal to Nokia.

Please Nokia wake up and resolve this quickly. The BT hardware in the E71 can do ANY profile of ANY device discussed, its just a firmware glitch.

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

I upgraded my E71 firmware to v300 a week ago.

Without installing any application, E71 still works ok with my Jawbonw Prime. However, the old problem comes out after installed some application such as Seven, etc.

I don't think this BT problem will be solved shortly... is Nokia going to let the new E72 to fix this problem... Who can tell?!?!?!

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

[ Edited ]

I have the same problem where my Nokia E71 disconnects from my BMW carkit (E61) in the middle of phonecalls.

This is very annoying, and introduced after I've installed firmware 300.21.012. My BMW dealer advises to install firmware 200.21.118.

I've contacted Nokia support and they point to BMW. Mr. Mustafa of the Advanced Technical Care Team (Nokia Netherlands), doesn't understand that 2 parties are necessary to corporate to solve problems which are reported by multiple customers. besides of that, I think Nokia can't ignore the fact that more and more cars do have factory installed bluetooth carkits.

There is no real conversation possible with Nokia. Since they think problems are always concerns to others. Nokia doesn't know the words problem and customer. So customer satisfaction is not a goal for Nokia.

I've seen a couple of initiatives* around the web to catch this bluetooth problem. What I've done so far is

- Deleted SMS inbox messages*

- Unpair the E71 and the BMW carkit

- Pair the E71 with a 16-digit pass code*

- Configure the server version as 1.2 (in stead of 1.1) in the PC suite synchronisation profile (for phonebook synchronisation)

- Configure the bluetooth connection with my PC to Manual.

- Reboot my E71 after it has been synchronised with my PC (PC Suite)

For a premium brand, which Nokia say they are, customers shouldn't be bothered searching for problems which are caused by a firmware update. I will post all conversation and response of Nokia in this thread, so you all can see that Nokia support staff is very well trained to waive all responsibility.

This afternoon I got a new reply from the dutch Nokia Advanced Technical Care Team.

A Nokia representative wrote this time: "Unfortenately I'm not going to provide a solution"

Moderator note: name of Nokia employee removed.

Since I have the attention of Nokia, please Nokia let us know when the problem will be solved.  I've just seen the latest sales results of Nokia which are presented by Gartner. Nokia dropped from 50% to 39% market share.

I guess we all in this threat know why this is happening ......

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

Today a Nokia, technical representative called me to say Nokia is not able to solve the problem. The problem should be caused by an known incompatability issue between Bluetooth version 2.0 (Nokia E71) and Bluetooth version 1.0 or 1.2

Nokia says that the BMW carkit has bluetooth version 1.2. On the question why the disconnects are not occuring with firmware v200 are thrown away as being lucky. Despite of not supporting thirdparty carkits, Nokia seems to be very aware of used technology by BMW, Volvo etc. So this is why this is frustrating that the fence between Nokia and the user is kept in tact by all Nokia personel.

The Nokia engineer offered me to communicate a complaint to Nokia aftersales care. This lady wasn't interested listing. She had her conclusions made already. There is no way Nokia will be a party solving this kind of technical failures. The culture and attitude of this company is simply not allowing them to think as a customer. The fact the phone is useless in a car, and one is not able to make phonecalls isn't important for Nokia !

Re: E71 Bluetooth Problem

What kind of carkit do you have installed in your BMW? BMW has loads of carkit/navigationial solutions. Have you tried checking if BMW tested this connection with your firmware?
