My new E7 connects with some Wifi, like in Norway Wiken, but will not connect with others such as NextGenTel and others. In fact it won't even connect to paid services such as that found in hotels and airports. Why it will connect to some ?, Why it will connect once then never again ? I have owned "Communicators" since the first one. I am surprised that Nokia is doing nothing about this as it is even worse than taking the fax out of the communicator - course the many complaints didn't prevail ! I suggest that cutting people off from Wifi will if not resolved quickly make me switch from Nokia even after all these years ! Does nayone have a solution ?

Hi JustForBucks,
Just exactly what error message are you getting when trying to connect to a WiFi network? Are you able to connect to the Wifi first of all? Then when you try to browse the Internet gives you an error message, correct?
The error "Invalid Server Name" is not related to the phone itself. Well in most cases anyways. This is a router setting issues. Depending on which router you use, the Administrator of the router can put a cap to the number of users. For instance, if I (as Admin) set a cap on a router to 10 users, all 10 users can connect no problem. But the moment an 11th user try to use the Wifi, he will be able to establish a connection between his phone and the router. But the moment he tries to browse the web, he will the error "Invalid Server Name". Simply because the router cannot furnish him with an IP address to connect to the internet. A simple way to fix that is normally to reset the router or contact the ISP provider.
Hope that helps.

I will contact the ISP, however your explanation should mean that no one else can connect. Yet, at least two other persons "invited" for the purpose came in with their phones and connected and were able to access the internet no problem. That being the case, does that suggest that the limitation in the number of users is not the problem ? Also a few minutes ago I made sure no one was using the internet - other than the one computer on cable not on Wifi, and I tried and again, the E7 finds it, connects to it, but when I try to access the internet I get "Invalid Server Name"... I am borderline buying another brand (after 20 years with Nokia) as I cannot lose the feature of Wifi access on my cell phone both for personal and business reasons - incidently I have just discovered that there is no printer access. My prior E90 connected and printed on my Wifi printer, the E7 doesn't seem to be able to print... Am I correct ? If so, how to fix ?

I am having the same problem. Once I start the E7 wifi browsing, my router freezes and I am not able to connect to any machine. I tried this at a friends house too, and it crashed his router too.
I have tried this with many other phones, laptops - they all work. Hence, I think it is E7-00 problem. Please fix this as it is affecting many users.

I solved the issue with my home based router (Linksys WRT54GL) just by resetting it to factory settings, automatic DHCP, all DNS to 0:0:0:0, WPA2. On the notebook I put TCP/IP settings in Wireless Network Cnnection Properties to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and all works well.
With my previous phone, Samsung Omnia, I've never experienced such problems. Nokia should solve the problem of "Invalid Server Name" in general.

Do not worry. Its not a issue actually. The thing that has to be done here is, the router has to be set to DHCP. That is one of the fix.
And the other is,Menu >> Settings >> Connectivity >> Settings >> Destinations >> Internet >> Options >> New Access Point >> Automatically chck for avlble Access Points >> Yes >> WLAN >> Select the WLAN >> YES >> Use PIN CODE INSTEAD.
You will get a code. Enter that code on the router, then continue.
The issue will be fixed.
It is clumsy and confusing, but only way to fix it. NOKIA should work to make it simple.

Same problem occurred for me with the E7-00 on WiFi via a DrayTek wired / wireless router. Important to note:
So, the "server not found" message reported by the E7-00 is a problem specific to the device / network combination.
Basics (like DHCP) of the (wireless) network were set up ok. Some relevant settings I made in the router:
After many attempts, I found that the use of WPA2 is related to the problem. Solution: In the E7-00, you can set up the network destination for the wireless network by just searching for WLAN, selecting the right one, entering the pre-shared key. After that has been done, change the detailed network settings. Menu-Settings-Connectivity-(Settings)-Destinations
(in brackets are menu references for which I do not know the exact English text)
This fixed the problem for me. Wireless works without flaws now.

Correction of my previous reply.
The phone still has serious issues connecting to my WLAN. Other devices connect without problems and my E7 can connect to other networks.
There seems to be a serious issue in the phone with reconnecting to the network. After a reboot of the phone it all works fine. But after an hour or so, the wireless network can not be used, even if the phone says it is connected. Have tried changing the energy saving setting of the WLAN without any result.
Today, it was even worse when the phone reported that there was no wireless network found. Network was still on air.
I have decided to remove my network from the access point list so that the phone will connect through 3G, even if I have a reliable and fast DSL. A big shame indeed.
