Changing WLAN password on an N8

I created a connection to my local WLAN and obviously got the password wrong. So when I try to connect it tells me I have the wrong password, how in gods name to I change the bloody password, since it's not prompting me and for the love of god I can't figure out where to change it. Strangely I thought I would be able to edit it, within the connectivity -> WLAN.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

Okay I figured out how to change the password and it really wasn't obvious.

FFS fancy having to try to connect to the WLAN, then perform a disconnect while that's happening, which sets the status to unknown for the WLAN connect. Then you can try to connect again and will be prompted for the password.

If anyone from Nokia comes here, for gods sake sort it out, thats the most obtuse process I have ever come across on a phone. Hows about an EDIT option for a WLAN connection?

Minor rant over with.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

You can also delete the WLAN accesspoint and reconnect.

Note that you can't delete Internet Access Points (i.e. "forget" known WLAN networks) from the WLAN Wizard itself but instead you need to go to:

Settings -> Connectivity -> Settings -> Destinations -> Internet   -> long press on the access point that refers to the given WLAN network and select Delete.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

Hi I have got a wlan connection that I can not edit or delete. When I try to delete I get a message saying "access point currently in use", however, when I check the status bar it is connected to a different wlan. The wlan I wish to delete is 5 miles away, so I'm pretty confident I'm out of range. I can not edit the problem wlan and I can not delete it. This appears to be stopping me from getting internet access via the wlan I wish to conenct to. Any suggestions?

You could try rebooting your phone by pressing and holding the power button for around 8 seconds until the phone buzzez 3 times in quick succession. Power up the phone after the reboot and try editing or deleting the access point.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

Thanks that sorted it. Can now delete the faulty wlan. Now able to sync my mail etc. Looks like this is a bug that needs fixed though, as I've been unable to get my mail and calendar sync'd properly for 2 days because of this. I couldn't work out what was wrong or why. Also, why is the delete wlan, edit etc not in the wlan wizard? It isn't exactly in an intuitive place. At least allow duplication of the functionality in the wlan wizard, or an option tab that takes you to the correct place.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

Don't think it is a bug as such. Probably just  some application not shutting down properly. Keep an eye on it for the moment and see if it recurs.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

Ditto, damn how hard can you make it. I am also getting frustrated about the apps not being designed in symbian. Why is is always last to have the app adapted? In particular http://www.myfitnesspal.com/. Also my N8 seems to be getting slower and slower.

Re: Changing WLAN password on an N8

You *can* change the WLAN password on an N8, but FFS, it's NOT intuitive, I've only found it by going through every freakin' menu choice! :smileysad:

Press the button on your N8, then

settings/connectivity/settings/destinations/internet

Or if you've saved your WLAN connection under another heading, eg WAP services, choose that at the end of the line above.

Now hit the WLAN connection you want to change and hit "WLAN security settings" on *that* page.

Finally... hit "Pre-shared key", type in your new password and you're good to go.

If this works for you, you owe me a beer!

Thanks for this tip, it really works however NOKIA SHOULD ENHANCE N8 SOFTWARE IN THIS AREA to make it more intuitive, cheers
