6230i bluetooth problem

Hi guys, really need someones help please!! Iv recently bought a brand new 6230i, however when i switch the bluetooth on and try to recieve files, it bassically is just not working!! Its ok if i send a file, e.g a photo to another persons phone, all works well. However when someone tries to send me something i get a notification askin for acceptance as usual, then i press ok, and after a few seconds it just say conection failed!!! This is with every type of phone with all types of data. Im wondering if because my chip is now a few years old and only on pay as you go, is it something to do with that?

Its very strange as say for example a friend can see my phone on their phone so obviously the phones are comunicating, but data will just not arrive at my phone!!!

Please help guys!!!!!!

Cheers

Mark

Re: 6230i bluetooth problem

the chip (i think you mean sim) shouldnt cause a problem at all.

the fact you can send a file shows bluetooth is fine on the phone, most bluetooth hardware soloutions are single chip - especially in devices like mobile phones.

are you able to connect to a pc at all, or any other bluetooth hardware like a headset?

Also, if the data you try to receive from someone else's phone is bought by that user, they cannot forward it to you.

Re: 6230i bluetooth problem

Thanx guys for the reply. I have not tried to connect with a PC via bluetooth, although i did try to send data via infrared to a laptop which again failed to connect. When i say data im talkin about your basic take a picture on your phone, nothing fancy. So if im sitting there and a friend takes a picture of us and i want it, i cant recieve it because its saying failed, despite my friends phone showing that it can identify my phone.
This has now happend with numerous phones!! And to be fair it is baffled me because obviously if their phone can idedntify mine, there is a bluetooth connection!!!!!! Do you think if i took the phone to a nokia shop they could possibly help, with regards to is there procecdures by where they can identify problems with connectivity because im not to clued up on the issue.

Re: 6230i bluetooth problem

YOu should study how Bluetooth should be used, first there is discovery then pairing, then you need to give passcode and so on.Maybe you are not doing all the steps right.
If you like to move to PC via infrared you need to install Nokia PC Suite from www.nokia.com/pcsuite to your PC.

Re: 6230i bluetooth problem

I confirm there is a problem with Bluetooth on this device.
I have been played with bluetooth for a long time (> 9 months) with my Siemens S65, a GPS, a BT dongle and recently with the Nokia 770 tablet. Never have a problem between all these devices whatever I am under Linux or under XP (with the same dongle on both systems). I'm using GPRS regularly with the Nokia 770 (via BT and the S65) and no problem at all. Same thing with the dongle, the GPS and the S65 or the tablet.

Yesterday I acquired a 6230i for testing EDGE (GPRS is a bit -very- slow guys) and ... impossible to retrieve a full page.

There is no problem when using GRPS from the terminal itself.
There is also no problem at all when playing with AT commands through the serial port profile (RFCOMM) using the dongle with XP.
But as soon as there is a few bits to be transfered the BT link crashes : I can only observe the beginning of a HTML when surfing before the BT link stops.
Moreover the Nokia 770 tablet itself is unable to see the shared directories on the 6230i whereas it has no problem for seeing and transfering them from the S65 !
Big, big incompatibilities between 2 products of the same manufacturer!
Sounds like a flow control problem.

So where is the solution ? My firmware (6230i) version is 3.5.

I discussed with some people about this problem. It appears that 6230i with firmware v. 3.4 don't have this misbehaviour.
Nokia has released a new version for the 6230i : v. 3.62. I'll try and inform you ASAP.

Re: 6230i bluetooth problem

I can try to answer the PC question:
If you are using Nokia PC Suite and you have an active connection to the PC and then you switch the Bluetooth off from the phone screen, it takes up to 2 mins or so before Nokia PC Suite icon in tray reacts to that "off". (the connection channel is cut anyway, so no real communication is possible after you switch BT off from phone)

Re: 6230i bluetooth problem

I have a 6230 (firmware ver 4.44) and using a blue tooth dongle was able to connect yesterday to my pc using PC Suite 6.7 and synchronise addresses, calanders etc with outlook and send SMS msgs too. But today I keep getting the message "cannot authenticate the phone" yet I have not changed any settings. Very baffling!

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

I've suffered my self from a simular problem. I find if i want to recieve something, I have to turn bluetooth on, turn the phone off and then turn the phone on for it to work. Is this a related issue or is there something in the firmware? I have v03.46 firmware. I know there is a new version out.

We have a similar Bluetooth issue. Purchased a hands free kit "Visor Lite 160" as a birthday present. Paired it without problems and it worked great for 4 days for incoming and outgoing calls. Then suddenly it's stopped working and the phone won't connect. It says the bluetooth connection has failed. It can see the device when you search for it and I have paired 2 other phones with the device, so I'm sure it's not the handsfree kit. If you call Nokia, can they help or is there anything else to be done
