So yeah, the Nokia Software Updater can't find my phone, and the "in-phone" updater gives me an Connection Error. Nokia PC Suite detects my phone just fine, although the Connection Center doesn't.

I'm connecting through a USB directly to the computer.

Any tips? I've updated everything, from drivers to software, and also reinstalled everything twice already. I'm just out of solutions.

im also having a huge amount of problems with my 5800 and this happens to be one of them.

I am running version 20.0.012 and plug my phone into the computer via usb. my computer finds it and i can open Pc suite but when i try to update it or use any of the functions of pc sutie (backup my phone content) it says it failed or in the software updater case it says undable to find device!

Make sure your phone is set to connect in PC Suite mode. Use the general profile.

have the same problem using windows 7 nokia 5800 v10.0 if i try phone update it says i have the latest version

If you've the latest firmware version, you have to wait till a new update comes available for your device.

it happend with me too your phone cant take the latest version as maby youre ram is more than 50% or your updatere is the older version even for me i have 52 v and i want too update too 72v
