Hi
I have two Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. I use Windows 7. All other relevant software is latest release.
Firts phone connect to my PC via Ovi Suite without any problem.
With second phone, MTP USB driver cannot install. Without memory card, the problem dont occur, but when reinstall the memory card, the problem recur.
It is obvious that this is not a software or Windows 7 problem, there is a problem with memory card.
I found a probably solution on web:
http://forum.dailymobile.se/index.php?topic=13209.
"Delete the folder: 10208913 in folder private in memory stick and solve your problem"
But I have not a "private" folder and a file like this.
Can I solve this problem without formatting my memory card?
System info:
Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0.0.10
PC Connectivity Solution 9.38.0.0
Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.20.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2009.40.0.60128
Maps Service API 3.0.35.0
Nokia mPlatform 2.5.168
Ovi Desktop Sync Engine 1.0.0.684
OS: 32 bit

If I connect a phone in Mass storage mode, it is as good as using it as a removable storage device. Therefore, by changing the Folder Options in Windoze (or pressing Ctrl+H in GNOME, Linux) I can view all hidden files, including the "private" folder.
Using a card reader will also produce the same result, I suppose.

Thanks
, my problem is resolved without formatting the memory card.
I connected in mass storage mode, found the folder named "10208913" within the private folder and deleted it.
Atfer reconnect the phone via USB in PC Suite Mode, MTP driver sucessfully installed.
Thanks a lot

I had this problem as well, after I did a hard reset to fix my leaking internal memory So I reinstalled the ovi suite, that didnt work, read the post about deleting a folder in Private,so I reconnected the phone in mass storage mode, THEN it recognised it, but I still get a notification that the mtp driver is not installed (code 10). Oh and I still can't transfer music to my device. And my internal memory is slowly disappearing again![]()

Hello NOKIA SUPPORT TEAM!
I'm sorry The problem is not solved.
The MTP-USB driver installation is failed always.
Actually the OVI Suite can not recognize my XM 5800 in OVI Suite/PC Suite mode/
I can use only as a pen drive for storing data or music.
The OVI Suite does not work at all absolutelly.
Can not connect to the phone.
I reinstall more times and an other machine too.
The problem still exists.
How can I fix the problem???

Removed the folder from the private folder, does not work.
A search of these boards suggests that the problem has been on going for some time with various devices, and solutions range from deletion of folders to format of the memory card.
Mine worked the first day, then disconnected itself, and would not install.
Nokia initially suggested that I use PC Suite cleaner, which I did, it worked initially, then suddenly inform the device was disconnected and failed to install again.
Nokia now say its a phone problem and I am to return the phone (without battery, sim , MEMORY CARD), its is a driver problem and is related to the memory card (which came as part of the phone).
It is time NOKIA came up with a solution that works!!!!!!

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem under Windows 7 32Bit, and deleting any folders does not help. When I connect my 5800XM in PC Suite mode, I get the "MT-USB device failed" message. Is Nokia working on this really annoying problem?

Hi,
sorry for my english, hope you will understand me :
If your problem is: your PC is taking 100% CPU trying to install MTP driver : here is my workaround :
I've try all FIX laying around the net without sucess.
So I present you my workaround, it may help you too (use it at your own risk!) :
- in C:/Windows/System32 find all dlls with name: wpdmtp*
- you should have this :
C:/Windows/System32/drivers/UMDF/wpdmtpdr.dll
C:/Windows/System32/wpdmtp.dll
C:/Windows/System32/wpdmtpdr.dll
C:/Windows/System32/wpdmtpus.dll
- rename them :
C:/Windows/System32/drivers/UMDF/wpdmtpdr_Z.dll
C:/Windows/System32/wpdmtp_Z.dll
C:/Windows/System32/wpdmtpdr_Z.dll
C:/Windows/System32/wpdmtpus_Z.dll
Voila you have now deactivated MTP support in XP (it should be the like in Vista and Seven). When you'll plug your nokia: XP will try to install MTP driver but will not insist, your PC and PC suite will be usable back !!
If you don't have the use of mtp, nor Window Media Player, everything should be ok (I've done this workaround a week ago with no soucy)
Hope it will help you not waste your time fixing this silly thing !
Nokia : I've spend almost two days finding a way to use back my phone so: Thank You Very Much !
