I have found a couple of programs that might be able to help you.
MMC Medic
MMC Password Finder

MMC Pwd
Its useful to install this file onto your handset BEFORE you do an upgrade, the program displays contents of the mmcstore file where the password is hidden shows you the code.
Incase the update asks for password, you will now have a ntoe of it.

Hi there,
well I tested these files and for me it is of no use. because
"MMC Medic" is a formate utility for currupted MMC's, through a
"MMC Card Reader", while "MMC Password Finder" is a sis file so may be it is useful for symbian phones, but it is useless for java based phones, as I have only "Nokia 6230i". another post in this thread is mentioned a utility "MMCpwd", but I could not find that file on its website.
If any one knows about a utility to find the lost MMC password for NOkia 6230i, Please tell me.

1) Install and use any file manager application like FileExplorer, etc.
2) Go to C:\system\ folder and locate a file called mmcStore.
3) Send this mmcStore file to your PC and then change its extension to .txt.
4) Open the file using Notepad and look for your password
hope it helps, cheers!

I found a solution, that works. I bought a new memory card! They are cheap, less than 10 euros. I am happy to have backup of my card. Remeber that E70 supports only 2 Gb cards, not bigger.
I have wondered why card was locked? Just before it happened, I loaded some games from Nokia Mosh. Could it be that some of those programs made card locked? So be carefully when installing softwares from Nokia Mosh! I do not dare to use it any more.

*MMC Tool
*Not a Nokia site. Takes you to another website.
It does not seem to be able to read the code but does back up, format, restore and copy any memory card.
Good luck.

me too had the same problem. i once formated my phone and found that my memory card was lock with a password. Same thing was that i did not set a password. Finally after so many trial and error, i managed to entered the password as the exact name of my memory card.
Sounds stupid but might wanna give it a try. Cause i remembered i renaming my memory card to e.g. aBcDe and i tried the name and it works!

Just to let you guys know that any respectable "mobile-locksmith" will be able to atleast wipe the card and remove the password ..
Not that it will be much cheaper than buying a new card though..

Hi Frnz,
I too faced the same problem and all the above suggestions went in vain.
But managed to find a solution though. Actually the memory card gets corrupted after the update
and so it requires the password. All the phones ask for a password to format it.
I tried with the Nokis E71, it din ask for any password to format and the format was successful.
But the sad part it, i was not ble to retrieve any data before the format.
But aleast i din have to buy a new one.
U all people can a give a try too.....
