I had the same problem but I did a full backup just before the upgrade. It does warn you before you start with the update.I also ended up doing a complete re-format of the memory card.

so how can we do if  the .sis application is not compatible and if we can't format:  

i have a 6500 with a micro SD wich blocked after the update asking a password i have never set

I updated my Nokia 5310 XpressMusic and my 2 gb Memory Card started asking for a password, I have never had a password on it before. It seems that it's the update that cause it. And you people who works at Nokia should fix it, make it possible to crack the password, and remove the worthless update, because we spend money on the memory card and you break it, so we should not have to spend more money on a new memory card, and some people actually lose really valuable information they saved in it.

hey i got also problem , i have nokia 6303 classic , i set pasword long time ago on my memory card (micro sd) , so today i update firmware and gues what , mmc needs password , and i forgot it . All these programs cant work for me cuz when i try to format  card on mobile it says you need password , i connect my mobile to pc then it says insert E drive , but is inserted already , i downloaded latest link here , and on that program it says insert E drive . I didnt know that card protection is so strong pls help me , cuz i need that memory card

Hi all,

have the same problem on my new E72 device, suddenly my 8gB class 4 microSD card was locked by password! All my data are lost now!

I've tried all possible tricks (default password, remote lock/unlock) nothing helped!

I am not able to use my 8gB card even on PC!

Dear Nokia, please pay more attention to the quality and not to the quantity of features!

Hav u guys tried ur Remote locking Message? Sometimes in some phones, nokia locks mmc wth ur remote lock message(if u hav enabled it)! Just giv a try.. i dont knw

I just got the solution for my Nokia n73 Music edition. Hope it will work for others.

My memory card was also asking for password after a firmware update though it was not password protected before upgradation. I tried in many ways. But didn't work. Today I just entered the password that i have put on my sim card long time back. And it worked for me.

Thanks to God. Because the Nokia Care people had already confirmed that this memory card is damaged and I should buy a new one. I had a lot of useful data on my card which I could recovered by myself today.

And yes..

ONE IMPORTAnt  thing for Future .Do not put sim Or MMc in phone while performing update.
