Yes i figured the schematic out and have 1.4 and 2.6 but the voice commands are not routed the right way when using garmin, only the internal nokia route program and this cost me money to enable the routing so i opted for garmin instead.
When i get the time for it i will design a small electronic circuit that will enable my setup to work with the car kit.
I only have a mute signal IN and one mono signal IN on my radio so right now i only have audio when someone calls me or i call someone not for navigation and music.
My circuit will put the signals from both outputs together and mute the radio when something comes thru either.
Sad that i have to do this as i bet that it would be a VERY small software modification for nokia to make a menu where i could select where the outputs should go.

Hi,
I hope this thread is still alive. I was just wondering how you've managed to figure out the schematics of the CA-138D cable. My unit has FW 1.2 and I can't find any installer to upgrade the unit to FW 1.4
Therefore, your approach sounds like the way to go. Can you please inform me what signals the pins carry?
On the other hand, the proprietary Nokia connector on the carkit side looks expensive so I'm not sure I want to destroy it.
Hope to hear from you or anyone else!

Where are you based?

Sorry, should've mentioned it: I live in the Netherlands. Although there is a Nokia Repare Point (or whatever it needs to be called) in my city, the tech guy over there never heard of such a cable and actually couldn't believe that the new firmware was publicly available through the Nokia website. All of which made me suspicious to trust anything he said.
So - as usual - I'm putting my money on the information from the internet

Hi!
I've bought Nokia car kit CK-300 and have it installed into a Renault Laguna 2 (i think original radio doesn't have an AUX input, because i can't switch to AUX)... Now I have a problem with playing music through my Nokia N95-8GB. It won't play music no matter what I do. I have read that upgrade to version 1.4 should solve this problem. Is that true or maybe I should install the car kit in a different way... I can't find an installer with this cable for upgrading also... Does anybody have schematic for cable?
Thanks in advance.

If the car doesn't have aux, it will be impossible for you to hear music from the phone.
Without this connection between the stereo output of the kit, and the car stereo, there is no link.
One possibility though is to use a converter box that connects on to the cd changer port on the car stereo.
A company called connects2 make them and the product code for the Renault unit is CTVRNX001
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your answer.
But, doesn't this carkit has its own amplifier and that when you play the music from phone, it mutes the radio and goes directly to the speakers?

No, only CK-100 and CK-600 have this internal amplifier and can play music direct to the speakers.
CK-300 must have an aux connection.

There is a CA-138D cable for sale on Ebay as of 16th Jan 2011.

OMG..
That guy is asking 25£ or more for a cable that is essentially a usb cable with the "B" connector cut off, one resistor, one diode and the connector CA-113D connector that is enclosed with the handsfree kit.
It's such a shame that i am not allowed to share the simple schematics with everyone here in public ...

Would it not be easier, cheaper and quicker to buy the cable do the simple upgrade and then sell the cable on?. I do not mean to sound rude but all the posts on this subject do not seem to get anywhere. plenty of advice but no actual physical solution to the problem.
I managed to get my car kit upgraded, it cost £30 and a round trip of 70 miles, I wish I could have got hold of a CA-138D as the upgrade was very easy to do and only took a few minutes.

It's not that hard to find the cable schematics on the net ![]()
Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the update. Connecting the HF unit to my laptop (Vista with all updates) went fine, the OS detected the hardware without an issue.
But during the updating process the Nokia update software just quit with an obscure error message. I tried several times (including safe mode etc.) and eventually gave up.
This was last year, mind you. I then took the HF unit to a Nokia shop and had it updated there twice so far. All of which without any cost, by the way.

It may have been as you were using Vista rather than Xp as one of the drivers involved is not Microsoft certified.
