Cant understand why this cable is such a big secret

I have tried to understand why this behavior..... I think they (Nokia) don't want you to upgrade the kit by your self because there may be a risk to lock the unit if something wrong happens.

While there may be some criticism on this they (Nokia) should give the user an opportunity to users to try at their own risk to do so OR plan to obtain a Nokia Car Kit installer in every main city.

Here in Italy for example, there's only ONE big city (Naples) that has a Nokia center enabled to do so, and this is simply ridiculous, because if someone like me living somewhere else (I live in Rome) needs to upgrade the kit, will have troubles:

- Dismount the kit

- Send the kit through a Nokia center

- Pay 35€

- Wait 20 days to get back the kit

Another point to Nokia's competition.

I am also looking for this cable.

Carkit has not been working properly since purchase. I ahve been on the phone with nokia for hours. fanlly they gave me a partnumber. But no one in Holland has it. can you make the cable yourself?

Not really an issue in UK where Nokia Accredited Car Kit installers have the cable!

Getting it done by an accredited installer will probably cost around £35, as people have been quoted, probably cheaper and more convenient to buy a cable, do the simple upgrade then sell the cable on.

I dont like the idea of doing an update and selling off the cable.

Simple reason...

In the time i have had my cable i have upgraded 3 times  .. 1.1 -> 1.4 .> 1.5 ->1.6

So selling off the cable would mean that i would be at firmware 1.4 today..

Better to buy 1 usb cable that cost 2$ and 2 components that cost less than a dollar combined and solder these things to the existing CU113 cable...

After four firmware revisions in all likelihood this is the end of support for the CK-300, although as you surmise even stock purchased today arrives with v1.400 installed although v1.500 and v1.600 have been released.

I've just been advised by Nokia Support to upgrade the firmware of my CK-300, to help solve an issue using CarMenu and my E7-00.

They said I can buy the CA-138D cable retail, but can't find it anywhere.

My CK-300 firmware is currently 1.5.

Can anyone help with sourcing a cable?

Welcome to the forum!

Not a very helpful comment from Nokia Support as you could buy "Online" from some German retailers before CK-300 discontinued and now this part no longer listed.

If you are in UK Nokia Accredited Installers have been supplied with CA-138D or I could probably resolve this issue if you send me a PM (private message - go to yellow envelope top right of your screen).
