Re: E65 Bluetooth & MMI from Audi and others ...

Hi Amanda,

I have a HTC TYTN 2 and am very happy with it. I have just ordered an Audi S5 and was wondering which Bluetooth preparation you went with that works perfectly with the device? Thanks in advance. S

Seamo - the HTC works out of the box with the A6 (2006 model year) bluetooth MMI. No special settings needed.

On the HTC TyTN2, there is Remote SIM Access enabled - however, the contacts integration seems to work just fine with this on or off!

Quite why HTC can make it work and The Biggest Mobile Phone Company On The Planet cannot, well that's beyond me!

Same for me Amanda,
with my new HTC Touch Cruise the Comand system (Mercedes) downloads the phonebook, missed calls and everything as it is supposed to do.

Bye bye Nokia & good luck (you'll need it, remember IBM?).

Re: E65 Bluetooth & MMI from Audi and others ...

That's interesting to know re Mercedes - we have various with Command and are in the process of rolling out HTC TyTN 2 & HTC S730 devices for mobile email.

I think your point about IBM is spot on. I dealt with them a lot in the mid 80's when they were Masters of the Universe. I remember their targets for revenue and profit which they were aiming at and then the world changed for them!

Certainly Nokia are turning in the figures at the moment but I find their E series increasingly divergent with business needs. Certainly a lot of their focus at the moment is in less expensive high volume models for developing economies, perhaps they feel that is a better long term bet than business where you are always up against Windows Mobile.

I know people comment that more Symbian devices are shipped than Windows Mobile, but that is somewhat economical with the truth - Symbian underpins so many Nokia models, whatever use the device is put to. I suspect there is a much closer correlation of Windows Mobile sales with the Business Channel than there ever will be with Symbian.

Re: E65 Bluetooth & MMI from Audi and others ...

I just got a PDF from Audi showing makes and models tested with Audi MMI. It is quite comprehensive.

For example it shows the HTC S710, WM 6 5.2.1236 giving:
Access to numbers on Sim
Access to numbers in Phone Memory
Access to call records
Provider name displayed in MMI
Signal and strength displayed

This is the only HTC model given.

Shows c.70 models all told.

Would be interested to see that - would be most useful if Audi had it on their website, updated from time to time, but I have never been able to find it there

Re: E65 Bluetooth & MMI from Audi and others ...

You need to download the Nokia contact download application on your phone. Installed it on my E50, repaired the phone with the MMI and now it syncs ok with the MMI on my brand new Audi A4 cabriolet. I can now access the phonebook on my phone from my car.

Nokia - there is not a single answer to the questions in this long-standing post. PLEASE will you create a fix for the E65 so it works fully with a modern Audi bluetooth mobile phone prepared car. I want to see my address book on the screen. Don't you realise that every Sony Ericcson phone works with this. Even Apple's iPhone does. It's just Nokia that seems to be completely out of touch. PLEASE HELP. I've been a Nokia customer fo fifteen years but I won't be much longer if you don't fix this nonsensical situation.

Re: E65 Bluetooth & MMI from Audi and others ...

Hi Concordia,
Been there, no luck. I contacted Nokia Support one year ago and the mail response I received said: "I cannot agree with you that this is a known problem. Nokia produces its own car kits and the software is produced to be compatible with these. You may try downloading the contact application software at www.nokia.com/europe for the 616 that is recommended for your phone model. It might work with your Audi car kit".

So really a very arrogant attitude - maybe time to switch to some other vendor - and I do not mean car vendor.
best regards
Peter

Re: E65 Bluetooth & MMI from Audi and others ...

Solved ... for me anyway.

Nokia E65 against an Audi A3 paired but didn't sync address book at the dealership. The following steps worked for me after trawling through forums and cobbling together some hints.

1. delete all pairings on phone

2. turn phone off and on

3. download Nokia 810 Contact Download Application (even though it is nothing to do with E65)

4. install app using Nokia PC Suite ... which requires you to confirm and complete on phone

5. select new app on phone and configure to always start on phone start

6. turn off phone, go to car, get in car, turn on ignition, turn on phone

7. app auto starts on phone .. syncs bluetooth pairing ... enter pin and accept

8. wait for sync to complete ... this took forever as my contact list is huge.

Looks like Contact Download Application is some generic software for Car <-> Nokia Phone integration ... or at least car with Audi MMI.
