I've recently bought a N78, when my 6234 started failing me. I never had any problems pairing it with Ford's bluetooth connection, which allowed me to make and receive calls. It became increasingly important as I travel by car a lot and now it's almost impossible to bear without. I've tried to pair my new N78, but it replies that it's impossible.

I've tried updating the firmware on the phne and I had the most recent one installed just yesterday.

It still does not work. Any ideas?

What do you mean by not bein able to pair?

If you search can they find eachother?

Have paired any other device (a phone or a headset) with the phone?

Maybe the bluetooth device in the phone is broken?

Hi:

It actually finds Ford's Bluetooth and even tries to connect, but when I input the 4 digit code, it halts for a while and then an error message reads something like "Sorry, can't pair with Ford Audio"...

I've paired N78 with 3 different types of things. A computer using a 4 year old BT dongle, another BT phone and a BT hear plug, and all worked just fine. Is it possible that Ford's BT config is too complicated? I've heard it's nokia made...

Any ideas?

Tomorrow I'm going to try to pair another phone with Ford's system.

Have you tried contacting Ford and ask what phones they support or if there´s any kind of update for the car´s bt device?

I have the same problem with the Nokia N78 and a GPS TomTom Go 530!

My old phone, Nokia 6234, connects every time I turn on the GPS, but the new one (N78) has serious problems connecting in an automatic way.

I'm considering return the phone (since it has just one week), but I don't know if all the new nokia models have the same problems?

Hi there

Have you tried entering 0000 first and then the pin that shows for you to input. you have to do this with some models

Update the software on the phone before returning it.. If it has early software on it, quite often this can have connection issues...

Just because the phone is new to you, it may have been with the supplier a while so not be up to date...

There is a list of compatible models on the ford website or nokia website.

they give marks for each characteristic i.e phone book compatable, voice dialling, ringtone etc

The nokia 6500 classic is fully compatable as it shows 5 stars and has no restricitons. i know it works as my wife has it for her new fiesta.

i have a nokia 5800 xpress and that works fine aswell even tho it is not listed

yes ,I'm having the same problems with my n78 connecting to tomtom 720, even the firmware of Tt is uptodate, anyone have any ideas?

Whenever you connect a rather new phone to a non-Nokia accessory, it will always depend on the manufacturer of that accessory whether it will work or not. Phones advance, so should the software of whatever accessory you try to use.

We can discuss about this untill Christmas and Easter fall together, but in the end you'll still need to contact your 3rd party vendor.
