BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

Does anyone else have this problem. I have a very nice BH900 headset, which I have paired with my very nice N73 (latest firmware). When it works, it works fine. But every time I try to 'connect' the headset to the phone, the connection gets broken off after a few seconds, even when the headset is fully charged. I have to connect numerous times (and, I don't know if this is making any difference, but also press the voicedial button - ie long press - on the headset) before I can get it to stay connected. It's very irritating.

I've just got BH-900 with my N73 - same issue as you, did you find a fix?

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

No fix. Just press the connect button for a voice-dial (and say nothing) for it to stay connected. Goodness knows why... And maybe this is just superstitious behaviour on my part, but it seems to work...

Still irritated.

Do you have a problem about talking time? 'cos I never used it more than 2.30 hrs, do you know what's a problem with this?

No specific problem - but I've long suspected it has a limited battery life... Shame about these negative issues, it would be a superb headset without them.

Pretty certain - Orange UK, high street retail outlet! It'd be a real scandal if it weren't an original...

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

I got mine from Nokia UK online shop - so again an even bigger scandle would ensue if mine is a fake!

You know - it suddenly occurs to me that the problem may lie less with the headset than with the firmware of our phones. I have the latest firmware on my N73 - but it may be that if we report it to Nokia as a problem with whatever phone we are using, a fix may be forthcoming on a future phone firmware update...

Edit: except I cannot find anywhere to report our problem - either about the headset or the phone, short of taking them to a repair centre. Anyone know of a contact point? For UK, say?

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

Hi,

Yesterday a bought me too a BH-900 headset and i had connection problems as described above (after a few seconds disconnected from the phone). So, i tried to find out what is causing this problem. I deactivated the authorisation, so the headset won't connect automatically when i switch it on. When trying to connect to the phone, the phone asks me to allow or not. If i press allow then another screen will appear asking the same thing, BUT here if a i press allow then it will disconnect, and if i press cancel or not to allow then it will stay connected a time (i have connected it a few hours ago, and is still connected, so i think this could be a solution for the problem).

I don't know why it has to be done in this way, but now it works (it's a bit uncomfortable).

I hope it helped.

Regards,

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

I have the same problem whit my BH800. It only stay connected for a few seconds and then the connection is broken. I have tried the tips listed in previous postings but none of them seams to help in my case. The unit is not a fake so that are not the problem, I also have the latest software and the BH800 is only 2 weeks old and fully charged.

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

Hi guys,

You did tell the model of your phone, are you sure this headset is compatible with the phone, if yes, try to reset both of the things to factory setting, *#7780# for your phone and press power button and voiumeup and hold it for 10 seconds,or read your manual

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

The phone is a E51 and it work with the BH800. The reset seamed to do the trick, it now work fine. I got a tips that all newer phones ought to have a restart once or twice a week to avoided problems with accessories, so next time I will try that.

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

If you reset a Nokia N73 to factory settings, as described, what are you likely to lose by doing that?

I'm very comfortable with the way my phone is set up (and I have the latest firmware installed via Nokia Software Updater - would I lose that too?).

I'd hate to have to go through a whole rigmarole to make my phone 'comfortable' again. It's easier to continue to do my little trick, as I described above... But I'd reset to factory settings if it is not going to cause me any aggravation to do so...

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

Doing a factory reset will set the phone back to as you bought it so you would loose all data, many config setttings and applications.

It's a last resort as far as I'm concerened.

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

Nevertheless, after predicted inconveniences, I can confirm that doing a factory reset did not help me with my original problem. Just have to live with it I guess...

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

Same her - with an E61i it connects, then disconnects.

Yes - I paired and set it to authorized.

Will send it back and get my money back!

Piece of junk.

Re: BH 900 Headset - Connecting Problems

No totally a piece of junk. Just a bit flawed.

As I said much earlier, you can get it to stay paired and connected by long-pressing its call button - so that it tries to make a voice-activated call through your phone, but don't say any contact name, and provided this succeeds and it reports 'name not found' on your phone, it will then stay paired and connected for as long as you like.

It's a workaround, if you like.
