Nokia 2730 Classic connectivity issues

I have a Nokia 2730 Classic, Windows XP SP3 and the latest version of PC Suite.

When I try to connect my phone via cable it won't work.

When I plug the cable in the phone gives me 3 options:

PC Suite

Printing and Media

Data Storage

The only way the computer recognizes the phone is in Printing and Media. And then, the PC Suite says "Connected in non-compatible mode" and I can't do anything.

Connecting in PC Suite mode results in the PC Suite's utter failure to acknowledge the existence of the phone.

Connecting via Bluetooth is not an option.

Please help.

Alternatively, if there is a way to download and install maps without using the PC Suite, that would also be good.

Pluggin in phone disables all USB peripherals on my computer

Sometimes (3 out of 4 times I would guess) when I plug in my phone to sync it it won't work, the sync program can't see the phone, or refuses to connect to it.

Worse than that 1 in 4 times it stops all my USB peripherals from working - my printer, card readers, memory cards etc will all stop working after I have plugged the phone in. This forces me to restart and try again.

Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it??

It's been happening since I got the phone 6 months ago, with both PCsuite and Ovisuite. It's also brings up a message saying windows media player has crashed everytime I plug the phone in - but I don't have wmp running.

I'm running vista x64 if that makes any difference using a nokia n96.

Hi Just got this Nokia E72 and trying to sync with my work laptop at work. Error message says:

Microsoft Outlook
PC Sync was unable to locate your Outlook message store.

Possible Solution
Your Outlook message store might have been moved. Please re-select your Outlook profile and required folders.

The thing is that I sync this phone with my home computer, is that a problem? or is it because its a microsoft exchange server but my IT dept says that they installed it properly.

Help

Dave

Map Loader / N97 mini

I'm attempting to use Map Loader 3.0.28.0 to load Maps onto my N97 Mini ( software version 10.0.020, 14-10-09 ), on which I have installed the latest Maps version ( 3.03 10wk01 b05 ).

I've run this Maps more than once, and the cities folder exists on my E: ( Mass Memory ) drive. There is no 'F:' drive ( i.e. no memory card ).

When I connect my phone to the PC, I start it in PC Suite mode. Using PC Suite 7.1, I am able to interact with my phone.

When I start Map Loader, it says

'You have connected at least one phone without a valid Maps drive. Either you are using an old Maps version - then you must update your Maps application or reconnect your phone in mass storage mode - or you have never started your Maps application - then you have to start the Maps application once and restart Map Loader'

Connecting in Mass Storage mode does not seem to help.

Any ideas ?

N97 MTP USB Device

Before I upgraded my N97 Firmware to 21.01.045 My pc windows 7 saw my phone as N97 when i would open a window to explore the phone contents, and when I would copy a video onto my phone it would convert it when it's copying it onto my phone automatically.

After the update-I had problems when ever I connected my phone to the pc USB, telling me the MTP USB Device failed.

But then all of a sudden few days later the MTP USB was successful but it again saw my phone as N96, BUT NOW it does NOT copy the videos as it used to, I have to go through Windows Media Player to transfer videos to my phone.

Inconvinent...

Nokia 5800xm - PC Suite & Windows 7 Issue

Hello

I've trawled through quite a few posts and I'm struggling to find the answer to my current issue with PC Suite, Ovi Suite & Windows 7.

PC Suite Version - 7.1.40.6 (Downloaded from Website 4/2/10 UK Formated Date)

Windows - Win 7 32 Bit (Upgraded from Vista)

Ovi Suite - 2.0.2.42

Connectivity - Via USB Cable

5800xm Version - 31.0.101 - RM356

Previously I used Windows Vista with my Sony Vaio Laptop without any issues. However Sony sent me some Windows 7 Upgrade Discs and of course I upgraded without looking into issues as I was sure that Nokia Software would be 7 Compatible, guessing i was wrong.

Neither of the 2 applications can connect with my Phone since upgrading to Windows 7.

Both just sit there on the Connectivity Screen and eventually inform me that they cannot connect to the device or no device present.

Inside my Device Manager i have several errors which are obviously causing my error. The following Names are displayed as NOT INSTALLED.

Generic Phone

LCIF_Alt0

PC Suite-Services

SYNCML-SYNC

I've removed and re-installed both Ovi Suite and PC Suite and still the drivers dont appear. I've tried to remove and reinstall the devices via Device Manager, but Windows still reports the devices as NO Drivers.

Where can i get these drivers from so PC Suite / Ovi can connect to my Device?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Darren

PS - Nokia Ovi Player works and transfers music with no problems, so the Cable is fine :smileyhappy:

I too have this issue

I cannot run any update using Ovi suite, even checking for updated gives an internal error. Nokia don't even bother to put an error code so that it can be solved. God even this chat does not work, when I press enter for a new line it goes to the top like page up ?? I have to press SHIFT + ENTER to make a new line

I am really annoyed at Nokia now, I only ever bought Nokia products for myself and my family and always the latest costing me thousands of pounds a year, but now we are going to move to another mobile maker as Nokia have simply gone down the drain just like the phones. I got the new X6 (which was the most stupid thing I have ever done) it is a terrible phone when it actually works, the touch screen is so bad that if you go outside in the snow, and one snow flake drops on it, you can no longer use the touchscreen for about 3 hours, making the phone useless, my brother with his Iphone laughs at me as I have to borrow his phone if it is just slightly drizzling outside as if one drop hits the screen the phone no longer works.

and now OVI suite does not work, I could program this so much better and I probably will so that I can actually backup my phone, as I will need a backup because I was stupid enough to buy an X6.

I am sad, but I will never buy Nokia again, nor will my family (as I buy for them) I know Nokia won't give a monkeys, but that is several thousands of pounds a year I will be giving to a different company that actually has phones and programs which work.

Creating Nokia playlists from my Mac.

I'd like to know if there is a way of creating playlists for my Nokia Music Player from my Mac. I've been using the Nokia Multimedia Transfer 1.4.2 to sync music from my iTunes to my Nokia phone (it's a Nokia 3110 classic). This relies on my setting up appropriate playlists in iTunes which are marked for transferring to my phone.

What this ends up with is transferring all the contents of the playlists successfully. On my Nokia I can now view and play all the music that was listed in my original playlists, by looking in the music player in certain albums, genres, etc.

BUT ... what is missing is the actual playlists themselves. These were playlists I had specifically made up with individual tracks from different albums, which is clearly where a playlist is most useful.

If I look at the phone's memory card I can see there are various .m3u playlists files transferred into the Music folder (where they appear as File Format not supported). But in the Music Player there is no sign of my actual playlists.

I know:

a) On the phone I can go through the torturous route of creating a playlist. It's unbelievably tedious.

b) On a PC I have options of using OVI Player, or even connecting in Media mode and creating playlists (.pla files!) via the Windows explorer window.

But it seems so obvious that the Nokia Multimedia Transfer should do this without problem.

Any suggestions for me, how to create playlists from my Mac?

John.

How to prevent old calendar events from being deleted from Outlook on sync

On my 6133, I have old calendar events automatically deleted after one month in order to keep the memory usage reasonable. The problem I have is when doing a sync with Outlook, old events that are automatically deleted on the 6133 are also automatically deleted in Outlook. Of course, on Outlook, the available memory is much greater, so I don't want to delete old events. However, it doesn't seem as though PC Suite Synchronize can distinguish between events that I explicitly delete on the 6133 versus old events that the phone automatically deletes.

So, my question is this: Is there a way to get PC Suite Synchronize to avoid deleting old events in Outlook for events that are automatically deleted by the phone? Alternatively, is there a way to at least get the Synchronize to delete the Outlook events so that they can be recovered in the Deleted Items folder. When Synchronize does a delete, it's completely gone and non-recoverable.

Any suggestions for approaching this problem?

Thanks.

Bug

Hello. I've worked with Carbide.ui 3.4 for a while, but was forced to reinstall Windows. Now I've installed the theme editor again and found a strange bug.

Everything works fine. I can open themes, edit them, etc. But whenever a part of the theme, not declared in the theme.xml file, is selected for WYSIWYG editing, the program just shuts down. No messages from Carbide.ui appear, the program isn't unresponsive whet it shuts down. It's really weird, as Windows Vista (the one I'm using) detects some bugs, I have the Microsoft Visual Studio JIT Debugger installed on my system. So it is 99% an internal bug.

Off course, I can edit the theme.xml file and declare the objects I want to later edit with Carbide.ui, but I just wanted to report this bug.

Note: This bug appears only while editing Series 40 themes.

Thanks in advance,

Sincerely yours,

Ianis G. Vasilev.
