I am sorry to see this update did not address my biggest issue with the bluetooth on this device. It remains incredibly incompatible with all of my bluetooth audio devices.

If my headset or car stereo initiate a connection both 'crash' or error as soon as the E71 accepts the connection. In the case of my headset the headset powers off completely. I then turn it back, and while the E71 still thinks it is connected (the headset cannot automatically reconnect to it) I initiate the connection from the phone. After a moment of the phone 'disconnecting' it connects to the headset, and works normally. This is incredibly frustrating. There is no way to disable the auto connect on the headset.

A similar thing happens when connecting to my car stereo. If the head unit initiates the connection, as soon as the phone accepts the connection the car stereo errors. Unlike the headset, it doesn't turn off, but rather just tries again. I have disabled auto connect on my car stereo.

I have found that in order to connect the phone to the car stereo more than once (ie, turn car off, go do what ever, get back in car) I need to turn bluetooth off and then on again on the phone before it will connect correctly.

Another issue I have had with bluetooth is the Channel that a service is on (ie, Audio, DUN etc.) will actually change when bluetooth is restarted (ie, phone turned off, turned back on). This makes it really hard to use as a modem (even with the Nokia software) as sometimes when the computer initiates the connection the phone has decided to put audio gateway on the DUN channel, and I see the headset icon appear on the phone (before the bluetooth stack crashes on the PC) and then it disconnects.

I have seen same websites that have said the firmware included support for the Sony Headset HBH-DS970. It would all be a bit easier if it just better supported the standards. Then everything could play nice. I have had less issues with my 3 Skype phone and bluetooth than I have had with my E71.

I have recently taken my phone in for repairs to address these issues. The repair did not help at all. And now this update had not helped.

What else have people found this update did not address?
Kudos!

I am glad I am not the only one who has this issue.

I really hope Nokia do something about it soon.

Tim.

This one is driving me mad - I think it is worse on the new firmware. I want to go back.

When I first start my phone, DUN is on channel 4... after ???? happends it used to move to 2. And it was usable....

NOW it moves to 3 and is not usable. I have to reboot the thing.

If I wanted to reboot my phone all the time I would have bought a winmobile device.

And headset/stereo sound support is very **bleep**.

**bleep** **bleep** **bleep**.

(And why is the RF antenae in the bottom of the phone? What moron thought that was a good idea?)

How could they ruin such a beautiful thing?!!!!
Kudos!
