Hi everyone,

 

I'm having a bit of a strange problem with my N96's contacts.

 

I've recently done a firmware upgrade, hard reset etc etc, and have got my N96 working like a charm. I'm a pretty experienced problem solver with all things tech, but this one is stumping me! Basically, after having restored my contacts from a previous backup, they all now appear twice. I've seen similar things on the www but not any solutions that work for me.

 

Interestingly, when I open up Contacts Info, it shows Phone mem. twice...

 

If I delete the top of one of the duplicated contacts, both go and if I delete the bottom one, nothing happens.

 

Its pretty irritating, and I'm assuming there's a duplicated file somewhere or something like that, but I can't do another hard reset - I just don't have the time or patience! Any solutions would be much appreciated. I'm running v.12 by the way.

Hi Stayloa,

 

Did you have any luck with this?  I'm now having the same problem on my N96 after a firmware update.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem, what fixed it for me was going into Contacts -> Options -> Settings, changed the 'Contacts to display' to 'SIM memory' and deselected 'phone memory' - ok that and back to contacts, then back into Settings again, change it back to 'phone memory' and it's now got rid of the duplicates!

I also think it has something to do with the contacs saved to SIM-card and thoes on phonememory.

That had been bugging me ever since I made that first post on the matter.

 

Can't believe it was something so simple - although, it was a bit of a bizarre fix!

Oh, just thought I'd also add that I'm up to v.30 on firmware - that bug survived 2 or 3 firmware updates since my original post!

wow that worked  as a charm , thanks a million , i asked so many people , and currently i am in Dubai and even went to the service center but could not solved no it all ok and was so simple ,
