Recently purchased this phone. When I go into "organiser" and click on maps it opens no problem.  When I go into "memory card" and click on Cities I get a title which says diskcache.  Whe I open this I get a list of folders? lettered from a-f and a list numbered 0-9 and then 3 entries with ? beside them, Finally when I try to open them I get a message "file format not supported" Why is this? How can I fix it

The files you mentioned are map data files. They are used by Nokia Maps. You cannot open them otherwise.

Hi,

The map data is freely available, however can cost in data charges if you download Over the Air. I would advise downloading Maploader for your PC/Mac and transferring it accross. You can donwload from www.nokia.com/maps/download.

To get turn by turn voice guidance you do need to purchase a license. the costs vary with the duration but you can check them from http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps/downloads-and-services/prices-and-coverage-s40

If you do purchase a license you will need to download the voice files. These can also be downloaded via Maploader to save on data charges.

Cheers

Chris

I too have recently bought a 6303. The maps came preloaded on the memory card. However trying to download the map software to my pc has not been possible. The site asks for you to pick your mobile and 6303 is not one of those listed. Whichever route I try to download is thwarted by this lack of the 6303 being on the picklist. The voice files are already on the memory card by the way. Any ideas???

The 6303 runs Maps for S40 and so due to technical differences it cannot be updated through application donwloads like the S60 Maps. The only way the application can be upgraded is via a Firmware upgrade.

Voice files and map data can be downloaded through Map Loader if it cannot be found on your memory card.

Cheers

What cbidlake means is that in the case of an S40 phone like the 6303, the Nokia Maps application is an integral part of the phone's operating system software (sometimes called the firmware), it cannot be downloaded and installed/updated separately. If a newer version comes out, it will be integrated into the OS software and available to users via a full software update (see www.nokia.com/softwareupdate).

Map data (the maps plus voices) can be downloaded to the phone using Map Loader, which you can found at http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps/downloads-and-services#map-loader-steps
