Hi
I decided to give the Music store (Germany) a spin and downloaded one track for €1.
So far so good.
After flashing my phone with the latest software, the playback license is gone.
If I try to play the file, I get this message:
"Unable to play. License invalid. Get license over the air?"
Then I get to log in to Nokia Music Store, and am invited to pay €1 again to play the same file I just bought on the same phone.
Answers? Similar experiences?

the help file says (paraphrased)
"just download it again from the music store by going through "My Account" and "My Downloads" "
So now I have *two copies* of the same unplayable file.
Now when I press play on either file in media player, I can request a license, which churns away for a few minutes and...."Unable to acquire license" is shown.
Can you imagine this with Apple/iTunes/iPod?
Can you imagine updating your iPod Firmware then having to download *everything* you ever bought from the *iTunes store* (step 1) and then download the licenses i_n_d_i_v_i_d_u_a_l_l_y (step 2)?
Thank goodness I only decided to test this out with one track.

OK. Now the world/Nokia thinks I'm a *dolphin* and will *jump through hoops*.
What I've tried -
1) click on file in phone and re-acquire the license (doesn't work - requests new payment)
2) Followed the Nokia help file suggestion and download the file again (doesn't work- same as 1)
3) Sync'd using Windows Media P(l)ayer. (New download and sync) Doesn't work - still wants payment and it crashed explorer.exe twice... (done on a different PC to the one listed below)
What I won't try :
--install a different version of PC suite than standard.
--Why? Music store isn't just N series! One size should fit all and this is supposed to be a MOBILE EXPERIENCE - I could just use iTunes and doubletwist)
What I want:
-I buy music -I upgrade the firmware -I play the music I already bought,
then either:
-- the licenses aren't scrubbed by a firmware upgrade (why should they be -it's still the same phone!?)
Or
-- Music Player offers to "refresh" the licenses, downloads the license for the current track, and silently does all other tracks in the background whilst I'm listening to that track (with a small prompt ín case I want to decline due to data transfer costs)
What finally worked :
- I have a copy on a different, totally separate PC, which I synced back to the phone, leaving me with four copies on the phone, three which play and one which doesn't (presumably the original copy...)
What this says to me:
--> People without PCs with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Media Player to sync their music to, shouldn't use Nokia Music Store.
--> This is a Microsoft Music Store.
--> I should stick to iTunes and DoubleTwist or ripping CDs.
What I will do:
Ignore Nokiasoft/MicroNokia Music Store.

Hi, I have an 8gb card on my 5310 and couldn't play any DRM'd music after I upgraded the firmware to V 09.42 from 8.32. Neither could I transfer and music to the phone, as the music store software complained that the 5310 was not the registered device, it displayed a licence error message and then suggested buying the music. When I attempted to play DRM music on the phone it put out a message saying receiving access key but the music still failed to play. I then found this thread and reformatted the card as suggested and this worked. I did take a backup and restore before/after the firmware upgrade but this didn't prevent this issue.

I had this problem. I had already backed up my device before I did the firmware upgrade. I then reformatted the hard drive and restored the factory settings. I then restored my backup. That has fixed my problem. To restore facoty settings type *#7780#. Then enter the code 12345.

I have never use Music store before. I registered to the site with my E71 (hey, how many logins use need in the nokia mobile world, Ovi, music store, discussions, Nokia Forum - all require separate account!). It was not too great experience. The first song that I tried, this week's free song, did not start loading, but ended in error claiming the memory card (where I haven't had any troubles ever). Second try told that I have already purchased the song, and I needed to surf along the site to locate and download it. Now I am stuck with error saying that license is invalid, and trying to get it over the air does not work. It also ends in an error, saying unable to get the license. Is there any other way than formatting the 8G card, full of my movies and music, and files, which I would not like to copy back and forth...? And yes, I have updated the phone firmware just recently. You really need to an engineer to use the phone, and these "services". Second thing I do not understand is that I can use music store over the web, using my phone, but the same is not possible with PC, but I should install one more piece of additional software.

Seems like there is some progress. Now the over the air license check gives me a web page to login with my account; however after a successfull loginit claims I have no rights for the song, and I could buy it again... Even if I do so, I get an error, unable to acquire license....
