Me, too.
the real problem is that the phone does not go into stand-by any more which probably means it drains the battery.
I made the following experience, which could have something to do with the problem: After exiting the pc suite I wasn't able to release/ disconnect the 6650 device from windows since a process named service layer.exe (including 2 sub processes) still accesses the phone. This nokia process starts with the connecting of the phone (via usb) but does not finish itself when exiting the pc suite. The phone remains connected and can only be released correctly if the process is killed via the task manager. Meaning: the phone won't be disconnected correctly - which could eventually result in this error somehow.
Anyone experienced this as well?

It is a PHONE CONTACT STORAGE PROBLEM and there is a WORKAROUND:
1. The "freezing" does not happen with unknown callers - callers not stored in the phone contacts or callers hiding their number. (if phone storage is activated, and SIM storage deactivated)
So, changing the standard storage from telephone to SIM card weakens the problem! (all telephone stored contacts copied to SIM card, and both types shown in contact list)
2. Someone changed his phone two times but it occurred again with both new phones. Don't bother sending it back...

Well,
I made a few calls and what I learned was that the posts in this so called SUPPORT forum probably wont "itch" anyone at Nokia.
Wonderfully, Nokia has not bug report support - all software updats result from the results of the nokia testers. I sent an email to the support and the answer was thanks, we write it down but cant help any further. Nokia doesnt give a sh***! Some got his third 6650 having the same bug - the problem should already be known by nokia! As for myself I can hardly believe the testers didnt experience this but they did! (On the other hand it is a quite special condition that causes the error...)
Meaning: there is a good chance of no software update removing this serious bug.
What remains is returning the telephone and picking another one! Unfortuantely for me it is the only one that suits my needs. Or lets hope for a miracle...

Hi,
I think it is the same for me. The error did not occur from the first start of the phone. I am pretty sure it started after using the PC Suite on the phone though I dont know if it in special was caused by editing the contacts with the suite.
I returned my phone a few days ago and I am totally unsure what to do to get my cvs-exported contacts back on the phone without causing the software bug. Unfortunately I missed during all my "debugging" tests to check if only PC Suite edited contacts cause it.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and keep me up to date, guys!

Hi,
I got some news, guys.
I got my 6650 back and I did the following:
I imported the contacts.cvs (which I exported from the bugged 6650 before I returned it) with PC Suite. The bug dows not occur anymore. I assume the editing of the contacts via PC Suite might cause the display error... I dont wanna try it though...
Keep me up to date.
@luftschlage: try to export your contacts as cvs oder another file format!
